The gsc discord had a custom bs file to tide people over until official was updated. Its not perfect, but it's got most things there.
Had a few exchanges with No One on TH Metas vs TH Acos - it's not conclusive, cuz Acos have Obaec as a huge brawl consideration and Metas have Fight on Death as a harassment tool. But Metas benefit from TH less than I thought, although they still have a specific niche into T5 and T6. Having maybe 1 unit of this would be sufficient, not 3x5. 3x5 doesn't do enough damage as a harrier unit.
Acos are also interesting - 1x5 with 2 drills doesn't do enough damage to kill a 5 man intercessor. However, 5 man with Bonesword/Laswhip, 1 drill, and Demo Charge can do like 8 damage, which is nearly wipe and an easy wrap. Much better consideration for a harrier/obsec contest unit.
For the 3W targets it's a question: Metas and PGS appropriately buffed could do the job, but are inefficient. Cutter squad would be efficient, but issues with -1 to hit cuts down output a lot. After some back and forth, we kinda settled on Drills in general being better than Cutters for this.
So something like 3x10 PGS, 1x10 Metas, 3x5 Acos with LWBS/Drill/Demo, and 1x10 Acos with Drills. 65 model horde.

Looking over the Acolytes in the codex, can a leader even have a bonesword/lashwhip? It says can replace its autopistol for one for the following; and does not look like it can have both? I may be misreading of course.
EDIT: Oof. I literally blanked over the next line. I r dumb.

Replace the autopistol for 1 or either. Then, replace the claws/knife for 1 or either.
Hence, LWBS.

It depends. I have had great suckess with filing down the arms of Neophytes and gluing acolytes arms in them. The tall thin look mixes well with the crouched look in a mix. As long as the humans have human colour (mine goes cocatian to more african (sorry if I use the wrong term.) While anybody who is Gen 3 and 4 are white with orange claws/nails.
It depends a bit on load out. In the end of 8th codex you got pinched on handflamer. But I see regular guns also beeing good now.
So in the start collecting sett you probably can get somewhere around 10 Neophytes and 15 acolytes/hyrbids.perhaps more depending on how good you spend the pieces. Both versions of the car is quite good. Abberants seem good as well, although I have not tried them.
The new combat patrol is in fact - great-.

Huh. I just realized something on the way to work. My intent here is to use 30x Purestrains. How do we do that? For the first Codex with rules how do they use them?
Pauper Princes is arguably looking stronger with Bore Through and Drills. Purestrains gain nothing here though unless -1 to hit.
Will revisit later. Jeanstealers.. Levi lists.. Hmm.

Genestealers I would do TH. Str 4 to 5 is big, especially since most of our buffs don't work on Stealers.
1 with Trap Sprung, 1 with Came from Below, 1 in a truck. Acolyte Squad with drills walking up the table with the "cant shoot outside of 12" for protection. Some Ridgerunners for shooting, probably some bikes to help the RR"s get exposed. Rockgrinders.

I would propose the opposite - PGS with They Came From Below, then two just free run to terrain, assuming there's enough. Keep the Acolyte with A Trap Sprung, they need it the most.

So now that I have had some time to read the book and take it in a little more I want to see where I go with Genestealers. This list is really just trying to maximize what I feel like I can do with 30 Purestrains. All the infantry can move to the trucks or vise versa. I initially had Neopyhtes in the list but ended up cutting them because I don't feel they really belong in Twisted Helix. Instead I popped in some Aberrants in a cheap and cheerful 5x squad to keep the Vigor Strat to 1CP.
I also decided to drop the Primus upgrades as I expect him and the Nexos to be playing in the corner somewhere alone. I am very curious about that Hand of Aberrance though that is a juicy upgrade with 6 or 7A potential.
Lots to try but I feel this is closing into where we settle for now. I also believe instead of swapping lists all the time this Codex I will swap Cults when I want to try something different.
I think Rusted Claw is the other most interesting pick with the Myriads being a close second. 4 arm looks fun with Mech (2+ Trucks) and I think all will get some attention. Very fun Codex.

Looks nice, to light on shooting for my taste but with TH your basically limited to RR's and Rockgrinders and that gets expensive quickly.
Whats your reasoning for FEA on the Sanctus? To me he seems like the perfect piece to hold your own back objective thanks to being untargetable outside of 12".

I initially had it on some Neophytes but because it automatically hits I feel like this is a potential Turn 1 Exposed model. Just theory for now.
Should be getting a game in soon.

I initially had it on some Neophytes but because it automatically hits I feel like this is a potential Turn 1 Exposed model. Just theory for now. Should be getting a game in soon. It does not. FEA puts you outside their deployment zone - so unless they've already moved out and you're doing super cross angles, you wont score an Exposed marker. The best bet for T1 exposed is a unit of Jackals with either Scout Move into terrain, or TCFB into terrain. If neither are tenable/possible, then you can also try to move them up advanced, Stimulus them to shoot, then spend cp to move them into Exposed position, or spend more cp to Expose something they're within 6" of for everyone else. Sadly, Raking Fire needs natural Exposed, as does our unique progressive. FEA is VERY good for keeping a unit of RRs safe on T1 though, assuming you are not running mass Rock Grinders and cannot saturate damage for them. If you cant make a play with them due to lack of terrain, then a unit of Purestrains with TCFB is great T1 threat since you can move them up fast on T1, or just send them in if you dont go first. Art of War's podcast mentioned Nids + GSC combinations which I think could be ridiculously frightful. Sounds delightful, esp since GSC uses next to no strategems for their melee portion.

Its probably not comp, but I can see a funny picture in my head where a broodlord and a patriarch are running down the field to charge a unit while singing "best friends forever" after using they came from below and getting a swarmy sling

I'm seeing the same except for Genestealers instead. 6 man HG backed by 2 heavyweight melee units is seriously no joke.
Actually NGL, Abbys seem to be exceptionally good in Tyranids...? Nah, their 2A is still a problem and they are basically inferior TG in a CS list, and those are just ok to begin with.

So I finally got a game in with the codex. I used a modified version seen below. Nexos and Sanctus pop out 2 auto a turn, VERY nice for melee list. Banner was last minute switch and ended up keeping the Neophytes alive until end. They regenerated 1+6+6+5 and ended the game at 3. 5+++ was immensely helpful. Add more later.

Games have been slow but going to the LGS for my first instore game on Thursday! I am super excited to become more involved in the community. I have only had 3 games with the book, and usually slow play games so winning isn't even on my radar. Going forward, this thread should be more active, and using different Cults less often. The list I plan on using: ++ Battalion Detachment 0CP (Tyranids - Genestealer Cults) [96 PL, 10CP, 2,000pts] +++ Configuration +Battle Size [12CP]: 3. I hate the idea of TTL, so the Magus is mostly there (in theory) for a psychic secondary. I have never tried them before. I really like the Primus/Nexos combo. Slingshotting rerolls to 2 other squads (while standing in one) has been useful so far. Although more Seismic Cannons would be preferred I am still interested in making use of Lasers. The Sanctus makes a return after coming to the conclusion the Kelermorph, although more fun, absorbs a relic slot and dies soon after. Turning off Auras is something I totally missed first game. Also, between Nexos/Sanctus Crossfire should never be an issue for the +1BS one target and tagging something "hidden" for fight last on another. Rockgrinders carry the 2 small squads of Purestrains. Still not sure what goes in them, but they have served better than trucks so far. I feel like Purestrains can keep up with the charge, and with 4++ are harder than anything their cost range to kill. The 15 Acolyte squad with Cutters is a first. I usually have in 5 or 10 man squads and only second time with Cutters. Any changes? I have a lot of legwork to do here soon, so might as well tighten the list up as best we can.
