Someone on Dakkadakka mentioned an intersting way around the change to fleet. Onslaught specifically states the unit can assault after running and shooting if it has fleet so provided they don't FAQ it, a Tervigon can allow a single unit a turn the ability to move, run w/ rerolls, then charge with rerolls. The Threat range on a hormagaunt would be ~20" average and a ravener gets a max of 30" If that still works... that would be a little nuts. Sadly I'm banking on it getting FAQed

GW doesn't think that far ahead to nerf it. Then again, this is Tyranids we are talking about so of course GW will FAQ or FAK it in one month of all the SM/IG/GK/SW/DE/Necron players.
Then agian, that would be a limited rule that stands out and would make armies actually different from a cookie cutter list we have know. (or at least be the new Tyranid cookie cutter LOL)

Even if GW overlooked onslaught in the FAQ.
The thing is your opponent will not allow it and in fact think you are complete cheese monger.
Then the tournament staff or GW store staff gets involved and tells you to GTFO.
But.... it would explain the hideous point cost of onslaught and make it much more worthwhile to cast.

The best that Onslaught can do, is start a rules argument. I hope it gets cleared up in the FAQ.

I saw this on a thread that got locked. So if I read it correctly, we can play Ring-around-the rosie with 3 Carnifex then? Have one Carnifex 1" closer than the other 2, all shots are on him, next turn, have him go back and then fresh wounds are placed with the carnfiex with all wounds and then put him back with the third carnifex next turn, hoping the other 2 carnifex regenerate a wound?
It may not work, but at least that will freak out some guys in my group. Mind games, gotta love them.

Yes, assuming your opponent is careless enough to not kill your Fex outright once it is wounded.
With easier cover saves, it may work out better....

I was thinking of doing something similar with warrior and ravener blobs...

Some hints for the future - GW apparently has a plan for 6th ed (and Tyranids) and allies, and want to make the game more suited for competitive play. Expect releases ever other month starting this autumn, and things like Genestealer cults in White Dwarf. Frontline Gaming thinks Tyranids will be top tier within 6 months. I don't see allies as a solution if Nids end up being underpowered once again. I'm not interested in any other 40K army and have no wish to patch my nids with tanks or anything from other armies, to make up for the nerf to assault units. Source? Because the thought of reintroducing Stealer cults just made me a very happy Gaunt.

Cataclysm is great but if you prefer your DoM locked in combat, or are facing an army with little vehicles/armour, I'd happily trade it in for any of the other powers really. Yeah, you roll Haemorrhage, a shooting attack that does a wound to the target if it fails a T test, then it passes on to you. Or any other Witchfire power that you can't use in combat. You can't tailor around random. Like I said cataclysm is good, but the high S can be wasted on low T, it could scatter onto you or your guys and it costs d3 wounds with no saves. If you're in combat, you can't use it, same as witchfires. Like I said, it's good we have the option. You don't have to commit to it when building your list though.

So, what's the word on the FAQ? Can we expect it tomorrow?

What would be the best psychic abilities for Tervigon's.

So, what's the word on the FAQ? Can we expect it tomorrow? When 8th edition Fantasy was released the FAQs came out on the same day. Given that 40K is more popular, it stands to reason that they would put as much or more effort into its release, and therefore, yes, we can expect it (late tonight or tomorrow). But nothing is ever certain.
