Who Will Rule The Universe?

My guess is that if the Tyranids find themselves unable to consume the necrons, then we'll just consume everything else and leave the galaxy.

Some theories:
As for where the atmosphere and oceans go: It takes a lot of energy to move large objects, the conventional way to move about is to eject gasses in the direction opposite of where you want to go. Excess resources could be used to this end. As for the organic resources of the planet, the hive fleets might reach a certain size and simply split up to cover more ground, so a fleet could be tracked and seem to be the size it was when it entered the system, while all the gains in biomass go off to terrorize a different system.
Scouring planets:
Buildings and such would largely be ignored by tyranids as, for the most part, they do not have resources tyranids desire. Yes, iron, calcium, phosphorous and the like are found in stone and animals, but only trace amounts in living tissue, even your bones are mostly protein. I remember references to 'plasteel' and other high tech construction materials, and these may well have considerable organic components in them, so these too could be seen as useful by the bugs. I only see them destroying buildings of steel and concrete only if there is an extreme deficiency in the organics of that planet. Tyranids wouldn't necessarily take it just because they can, because you can overdose on trace vitamins and minerals.

I think that at the end all that will left are Nids, Crons and Chaos fighting each other. But, the Nids will leave the galaxy after they devour it. They will never rule it. End of story.

Are you talking about movement in space? I often wondered how they moved, since as there's no air and friction in space, you can't "push" against anything, so moving flaps, wings, pushing off with tentacles or w/ever would be useless, it would make sence if they used gases to propel themselves.....
I also read somewhere, I think it was a short part of the wikipedia for C'tans, where I saw they used antiwarp/psychic beacons or w/ever, and that Tyranids avoided an area they warded off with such things........ So my new "guess" is that once the C'tan+Necrons get more setup, the 'nids and necrons will pretty much avoid each other, the tyranids will leave, then most chaos and the C'tan/Necrons will fight where 1 of 2 things will happen:
1. The chaos will have been to beaten and will eventually loose to the C'tan/necrons and they'll close off the warp/eye of terror, purge the life from the galaxy and go back into stasis sleep(or perhaps like the 'nids, branch off and purge other galaxies of their souls.)
or
2. Somehow Chaos will get stronger and stop the necrons, perhaps from humanity becoming so distressed and seeking alternate means to survive, turning to chaos, with the remaining DE joining them as they are indirectly "ruled" by chaos anyways, and beat the Necrons.

The Tyranids clearly avoid the Necrons (see anomalous hive fleet movement on page 67 of the Necron Codex). This is not surprising since even if they could eat living metal; dead Necrons phase out.. thus nothing to eat. At any rate the most likely conclusion is that ever larger hive fleets will arrive in the Milky Way eating everything organic... until nothing is left. At that point they will simply leave. What I want to know is how things will go for the nids once they try to eat the eye of terror.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I think the nids will get beaten back outside the eye of terror. I belive that daemons heavily outnumber nids in the warp, but I may be wrong.

I think initially the 'nids would get their butts kicked, but would evolve and overcome the forces of chaos.

Honestly who knows the full extent of what nids would be capable of after consuming more biomass(hell the orcs would probably suffice or another galaxy). I mean if the evolutionary pattern moves to something like photosynthesis or some potentially endless form of energy the troops that lived could possibly live as long as their bodies function(dunno how age affects nids) Imagine an army where the basic troop choices are hive tyrants in standard tgaunt unit numbers. I could see that flattening the necrons or forces of chaos reguardless of the playing field. Of course if some type of deamon of chaos was consumed and somehow tainted a nid fleets biomass....the results could be unthinkable. Afterall we don't exactly know what type of deamons are deeper in the warp...some might just have that type of power.

Its really hard to say. Mutations are suppposed to occur pending on what the persons' closest alignment to one of the Chaos Gods is, but since 'nids have no emotions whatsoever other than hunger, its hard to say what will happen.
and since deamons and materiels in general are supposed to be just energy, they might not be directly consumable...........
theres so many factors and so much that is unknown, its hard to say what exactly will happen.

Some guys from the GW forum also talked about the Nids devouring the Eye of Terror. I said this once and I'll say it again: No one can destroy the Eye of Terror no matter how powerfull he is, for Chaos is the greatest power in existance (eventhough the price for this power is big....).
