The necrons "phase out" is generally due to there core (the rock in the chest cavity) and anything not attached is really just scrap metal, the necrons will try to pull themselves together but te head could have detached, and the body phased out with the core leaving the head.

OK, I know I shouldn't be adding to this and we should just let the thread die but my head will explode if I don't add my 2 pence worth.
There have been many times where GW have mentioned Necron tech that is unable to phase out. White Dwarf even has scenery made out of a junked Monolith. I think you guys are concentrating to much on live tech. If the monolith had been crippled or destroyed beyond the point of the homing beacon kicking in, then the Orks could do anything they wanted with it. There have even been short stories published about the imperium building around hibernating Monoliths and everything being fine for many generations until it suddenly wakes up and starts vomiting Necrons.
There was a White Dwarf battle report where the players had to attach a stasis field to a Necron so they would be able to capture it. So you see, there are GW approved instances where it has happened. It isn't impossible, just incredibly bloody difficult.
As for Necrons not being corrupted, I seem to remember a Gaunt Story really early on where they come across evil skeletal robots that have mutations. I admit that my memory is a bit shaky on this one though.

That was the first Gaunt's Ghosts story, but they weren't Necrons, just robotic humanoids exposed to chaos.

well a necron model that has no other model of same type within 6" cannot self repair.. but! however the model is not removed and i can simply move a model of same type within the 6" after a turn or 2.. and still get my WBB roll.. that is how i did it, simple

Right-O, people! This thread has been necro'd from over a year ago and subsequently derailed. Let's just put it out of it's misery. You know that witty endline you're about to post about necros? Save it till next time. It's only going to draw things out otherwise.
Do not post after this. No, really. Just don't.
