Another hope for the new codex

forgive me if this has been discussed already.

When the new Eldar codex came out some of their units got the ability to run then shoot. I'm hoping that we get something that allows us to run and assault in the same turn.

It's very likely and IMO the reason they changed the rules for fleet with 6th Ed. So tyranids could have run and assault as their army spec rule.

Those were my thoughts exactly. So at least Hormies, Stealers and Raveners will get this rule. I am not sure if this will help or not, but it will make Nids a bit faster then, like we should be.

I agree with davor I hope they give a speed buff or something to homragaunts and raveners, They are really cool models but they have it hard to reach stuff trough cover and overwatch before they get shoot to pieces.

I am also hoping with that rule, even if they go through terrain, they strike at I still. This way, Over watch will not seem so bad, especially against Tau.

something to counter the helldrake too. last night was the first game i played against one and it sucked. killed my hive tyrant one vector strike. i like the idea of running and assaulting.

But we are no longer the army with the Largest MC! We should be the army with the biggest baddie! I mean... The big baddie shouldn't stop them from fixing the codex.

What kinda tyrant ?

Talking to one of the owners of my flgs, he reckons that the trygon will become jump MC, make it as fast as a ravener but perhaps reduce it's survivability. As it is it has replaced the fex as our heavy workhorse, have the trygon as the fast monster (it is effectively just a ravener on steroids) but it gets left behind by the smaller snakes. A points reduction or possibly durability increase for the fex would need to be taken aswell and then the fex would go back to being the core of our slow heavy support.

A fast swarm idea would be awesome, if the dedicated melee units (horms/stealers/ravs/trygon) could move 12" + run and then charge that would balance out having to slog it across the board weathering two turns of shooting and then overwatch. The rest of the units would be normal speed. Having this as a constant effect could be a bit too much, maybe as a surge to get into combat once a game, sort of like a waaargh perhaps?

I think it's possible we will get an army wide, or possibly unit specific rule to allow some running and charging. I would be surprised if ravs get it though. A 12" move, run and assault with all the fleet/beast rules would be pretty crazy. That's potentially 2 1/2 feet of movement, which is not far behind a turbo boosting eldar jetbike or flyer.

If this rule happens, it will likely be restricted to certain units (genestealers and hormagaunts being the most likely here).

It sounds crazy until you consider that warpspiders can do something similar to what has been suggested, so it's not unprecedented for a non-vehicle unit to have a rediculous amount of movement.

I think it'd more than likely become a beast.

^^ Agreed, I don't think they will strip the Trygon of MC status.

Jump MC is possible though - simulating it's ability to burrow and tunnel quickly maybe? It could work. I'd totally accept the trygon losing beefiness and durability to make up for the increased speed and synapse control for fast critters like ravs and gargs.

Also differentiates the Trygon from the Carnifex and allows the carnifex to move back into the role of tough heavy hitter. Here's hoping.
