Best I've had him do for me is, I dropped him near a Necron Warrior squad, Deathmarks, and a unit of Imortals. He managed to kill almost half a unit of Warriors, a Lord, four Imortals, and two deathmarks.
He never died on me either.
Worst I ever had him do was actually not him dying on that S8 single shot (It does suck though!). But he dropped in near an Eldar Jetbike unit that was giving me some annoying trouble. They passed their test, next turn they boosted away, and Doom was so far away from anything, he didn't do a thing the whole game lol... I even tried to cast his power and lost a wound to ROW, then by that time the game was basically over.

If not the letter, then the spirit of the rules suggests yes. To be the lawyer... well how (how well) does infamy sit with you?

Doom is unique, you can only take one. Does that still hold if you are using two FOC? Yes. All 2000+ all it does is open 2 FOC, it doesn't let you have more than one unique. Think it of this way, unique means 0-1 choice in the old way.

If not the letter, then the spirit of the rules suggests yes. To be the lawyer... well how (how well) does infamy sit with you? See, the problem with that is the 'spirit' of the rules is a pretty subjective, almost arbitrary, assessment. A couple of years ago I had a guy explain to me that dropping empty drop pods was against the intent/spirit of the rules, and only a WAAC player would do so. In this case, luckily, we don't need to worry about that. Since Unique is per army, and even with 2 detachments (FOC), it is still one army.

Ah! That awkward first post! There's a Welcome thread for introductions on the main board where you can make greetings. Running threads are for discussion of the topic. You don't need to introduce yourself here, just dive right in and post your opinion. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Doom is an odd one for me as he's not reliable enough for competitive play but potentially gamebreaking in casual (rolling Iron Arm on Biomancy lol). I'm currently running triple Yealers (mostly because someone nicked two of my converted Hive Guard) but I occasionally slip him in to the odd game. In 6th, I noticed he's actually gotten a bit of a boost. Lower cover saves, generally more infantry and Plasma spam doesn't hurt him as much as Melta spam did. Missiles still ruin his day, of course but he also functions as a cheap fire magnet to draw fire away from MCs. He's not broken, he's not bad, but he can easily seem like one of the two just depending on the roll of the dice. Really, he's more in between and just 'good' despite single games rarely really showing that way.

Yesterday after a long time I had a great time with the doom again ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm going to a team-tournament with IG being my ally and we tried out a very cheesy combo, that did right well. He's got that unit of psykers in a chimera battletank that can drop the Ld of any unit within 36" by 7 or 8 (a codex power of the IG). Combined with the Doom with Psychic Shriek it's just awesome against any non-vehicle unit, no matter its toughness. Even better if those units are stucked in battle with some gaunts, for both powers (the curse of the IG and Spirit Leech) do affect units in close combat. And on the last turn he ate a dreadknight and a command-terminator-squad in a single shooting phase^^ Great experience!

I'm pretty sure that doesn't work, since the Spirit Leech happens at the beginning of the shooting phase, before the PBS can reduce leadership.

Yes, it doesn't work in the same players turn, but the PBS psychic power lasts until the game turns end, so a unit tarpitted by gaunts is sentenced to certain death. We had this situation yesterday with a big unit of Stormshield Terminators. Thats very situational, I agree, but with Psychic Shriek its just fine ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

It lasts until the player turn ends, so I guess Psy Shriek would work pretty well, of course you could do that with any psyker.
