The game is being released via download for free with six of the mane cast each with their own unique fighting styles. That's Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy (with Angel), Rarity and, of course, Applejack in the first release.
Other characters will later be added in expansions (along with other goodies) until the planned total of seventeen characters are eventually released. Confirmed extra characters include Dr. Whoof and "The Great and Powerful" Trixie.
Obviously the game is only in it's pre-Alpha stages at the moment but the team they've assembled seem to know what their doing (as you can see from above) and have done a great job so far. Especially considering it's all being done volunterally.
And before you ask, no, they're not accepting donations. I already checked. It's strictly non-profit for copyright reasons. Nevertheless, these guys are going to get one hell of a reputation amongst the thousands of MLP fans online.

Whaaa? Someone want to explain to me what all this pony stuff is about? Game looks good but that said looks far from done I honestly don't know, nostalgia maybe? It isn't my cup of tea but a lot of properties from the 80's are very popular. Surfs, transformers, and Ghost Busters all have films out or are being released. MLP was one of my sisters favorites and it seems to have a cult following. Honestly though it looks like my kids would enjoy this game a lot.

But right now they just can't get enough of cute little ponies. I wish it were so - but it also seems to be a general internet fandom thing at the moment to love the horsies. It appears someone managed to make My Little Pony into something that not only the female mind, but also the general geek mind (possibly only the American version) cannot get enough of.

Only American? It's huge in Europe and Australia too. And still growing for that matter.
