It has now been 6 months and a half. As you can see in my previous e-mail, i asked if the Deathleaper has been discontinued while the red terror is still for sale.


The red terror is not in the Tyranid codex however the Deathleaper is.


Unfortunately after over 6 months the Deathleaper is still not even for sale or unavailable, however not even listed while the Red Terror is.


What has happened? How is there a unit in the codex with no possibility of purchasing it? And why is the Red Terror still for sale while it is not in the codex? 


Half a year ago your customer care said Deathleaper hasnt been discontinued but is probably being repackaged. Its been over 6 months. Do you have an update please? As i would really like to purchase one from you.

Has anyone else asked this same question? I find it very strange after the court cases they've had in the past that they'd list a unit in a codex with no model.

This isn't like the Harpy being unavailable as its sold out. The Deathleaper is nowhere to be found.

I know it's the master of stealth and stuff but...geeze...

I have both and honestly, the discernable differences seem to be slightly spiker talons and some rocks it stands on. My opponents have all been happy to allow my custom lictor as the Deathleaper (a baseball cap, sunglasses and a yoyo dangling from 1 of its talons). Even brought it to a mini tournament, tho that tourney had a lot of custom builds.
You could probably green stuff the extra spikes and it's fine.
If in a rush to own a model and it's friendly games, I doubt you'll have any issues as long as its easily differentiated from your normal lictors.

Proxy a Lictor. There's a significant difference in height between the official Deathleaper and the Lictor model. One of Deathleaper's arms point upwards if you model it correctly, which makes it impossible to fit in the bottom floor of many of our homemade ruins. Lictors fit just fine.

No it is not.

OK not exactly the same model, but...

Someone who doesn't know which is which is wont know in the middle of the battle just by looking at them..and most likely even TO's wont know the exact difference either.. as long as the opponent can clearly discern the lictor from the deathleaper, you wont have problems..

buy 2 lictors, build one with spikes reaching up, and the other with the spikes reaching forward, and point it out to the opponent

or paint them different color schemes do even more easily discernable.. i used this method with harpies (one had synape and the other 4+ invul) and made it clear to the opponent which has which..

or maybe just make the bases a different..

and if you're not sure about a tournament, you can always check up with the organizer..

I have 4 lictor in total, 3 are painted kraken, and 1 is painted in a black/Grey scheme. I use that one as deathleaper.

It also has normal scything Talons to help differentiate it.

I have 3 lictors, i currently do what you are saying when playing deathleaper or i use the older version lictor as him.

But you are missing the point.

Gw doesnt sell units that dont have models anymore, because of court reasons we can discuss further in another thread.

So why did they put deathleaper in the codex without having a model to sell for it?

There is a Reddit post that the model is discontinued. I'm guessing that the model was often proxied by normal lictors and didn't sell all that much.

Nothing ground breaking here. It sucks from the collectors point of view but other than that the life as we know it continues.

There has been a rumor for a while now that there is a Tyranid Killteam coming that will have a lictor in it, likely Deathleaper or a Lictor that includes an alternate head.

Honestly, you aren't missing out on much. I bought a deathleaper years ago and the molds had clearly slid and it was unbuildable. I reached out to GW and they sent a replacement that was in even worse shape.

I just gave up at that point. On both kits the torso was just mangled and there were bubbles in several places. That was actually the kit that made me swear off finecast forever. GW will bring back DL in plastic form and it will be better for everyone. Most likely a Lictor kit with alternate head and talons and if we are lucky, a new type of Tyranid on the same body, maybe a ranged assassin type.
