Hello everyone!
For some background, I am new to Tyranids and Warhammer 40k in general. I have played about 5 games ranging from 500 point costs to somewhere around 1300. I really love playing Tyranids and I am obsessed with their models. I understand they aren't a super competitive army but that being said, they are my favorite out of all the options available. I currently have a small collection of about 1000 points. I want to expand my army to about 1500 points, but before I shell out the dough, I wanted to check and see if my list was any good. I tend to play with people that enjoy "fluff" battles and we often mix up games from just killing each others units to playing the objective. Below is a rough list that I've comprised, reaching exactly 1500 points. Any information/input any of you can provide is greatly appreciated! I would love to hear everyone's thoughts.
1500 POINTS
BATTALION - (Stuck between Kraken/Leviathan)
x1 Flying Hive Tyrant (I love this model and everything it does)
-resonance barb-catalyst, onslaught, the horror, smite
-adrenal glands, monstrous rending claws, heavy venom cannon
x1 Tyranid Prime (helps make my warriors consistent)
-adrenal glands, deathspitter, boneswords
x6 Tyranid Warriors (one of my all time favorite tyranid models)
-adaptive physiology: enhanced resistance
-adrenal glands, boneswords, x4 deathspitters, x2 venom cannon
x6 Tyranid Warriors (second unit, spending 1CP for the physiology)
-adaptive physiology: enhanced resistance
-adrenal glands, boneswords, x4 deathspitters, x2 venom cannon
x30 Termagants (Wondering if I should split this up into two different units)
-x30 fleshborers
x1 Lictor (Love the model and the deepstrike is a great distraction/can also deploy scramblers)
PATROL - KRONOS
x1 Neurothrope (my only painted model that I spent 5 days on)
-symbiostorm, smite
x3 Ripper swarms (cheap, effective deepstrike, meets infantry standard for patrol)
x6 Hiveguard (awesome model, big unit to take advantage of single-minded annihilation)
-x6 impaler cannons
x1 Exocrine (the first "big" model I ever bought. My absolute favorite out of the entire codex)
All in all it comes to exactly 1500 points using the new point values of 9th edition. Please let me know what you think!
Also, a quick rules question. I know pistols can be shot in engagement range and that monster units can shoot in engagement range (with -1 to hit), but can any non-blast weapon be shot point blank? If so, does this occur in the shooting phase or the fight phase?
Thank you in advance!
All the best,
-Tom
