Speaking of being burned, how is adding more no armour models into an already flamer fest (cheap cheap cheap!!) Covered shooting meta? Unlock +1 armor for das gribblies to make people at least have to consider bringing heavy flame boys or actually be forced to fight a near full force of gribblies

Unless they are stark raving bonkers (entirely possible) Why did they get rid of Doom of Malanthai in 6th ed? ...and then reintroduce it through FW Wait.... what?

When these rumours first/second came round, I mentioned using IA13 as an idea on a good way to do it - cheap troops and vehicles (IG, so providing that longer range shooting that we lack), but even worse than guard (BS2 usually) with a bunch of semi-random extras, including stuff like our hybrids (except for chaos). Of course, I highly doubt it'd be anything near as good as that . Maybe if FW did it. What flamers in the meta? The only major meta thing I can think of with templates is Wraithguard with D-Scythes, and they're not flamers. Drop marines would probably have some, but they aren't exactly the whole meta, and I'd say they'd be focusing more on anti-vehicle/MC/heavy infantry i.e. grav/melta. Admittedly, I'm not on top of the current meta, but I don't think flamers are that common (outside of Sisters and maybe Salamanders, but the first is hardly ever seen). Also, flamers are ap5, so gaunts would need a +2 save before heavy flamers were needed (at which point that's just ridiculous for current points, and I don't want them anymore expensive - I prefer to just have more wounds with cover saves than slightly better armour saves that'll still basically never get used). Unless you're referring to stealers, which I wouldn't call gribblies. I dunno - he might be thinking of Neurothrope (which isn't Forgeworld, but is mentioned as being a possible descendant of the Doom). But I'm almost positive that FW hasn't done anything regarding the Doom.

Maybe, but Neurothrope is nowhere near the awesomeness that was the Doom.

I miss Doom, the mention of its very name forced my tau and IG opponents to not ball up in the corner behind a ageis defense wall. Did that once vs a IG player, Doom lands and kills about 20% of his infrantry due to some seriously lucky rolls. Next turn everything strength 8 fires at him, even the battle cannons, which scatter all over the place killing more infantry. Whole time my army is just running as fast as it can to take advantage of the chaos and close no-mans-land.

Just plainly referring to stealers, since its about the cult and all, sorry for non specifics. I make 5+ saves a lot more than I do 6, that's all (at least chainswords have no AP :/ )

Ah sorry my bad I thought Neurothrope came from FW, well yeah not as good but it's the "NEW doom", like New Coke or our new stealers ...or a newly developed heart condition

The neurothrope is Doom Lite. Its the Doom toned down to stop cries of 'cheese!' from thunderwolves, wraithknights grav centurions etc

All of those... Why is it considered "cheese" by some of the best armies, when we have ZERO D weapons in normal 40k.

The doom terrified people, regardless of how piddlingly average it's output actually was. It was a big-swing unit (it either did jack (please do not swear) before eating a krakk missile or wiped multiple squads).

Most games he did nothing for me but act as a massive bullet magnet, but one apoc game he killed 14 termies..never shot at them either.

Haha reading through this, I is great to see that tyranids as perhaps the weakest army out there atm (or at least a good bottom feeder army) that players still have a sense of humour about things, at least that can't get nerfed (well, not to much) ?
