* * * Conclusion * * *
"NO!", screamed Ulthian as the Tyranid Prime's whips unraveled Yeril's lifeless body just as his head hit the ground beside his lifeless body. The Tyranid let out a ferocious roar at Ulthian, beckoning for another battle.
Ulthian drew his blade and charged at the Tyranid Prime in a absolute state of rage. The Prime swung its whips towards Ulthian who quickly countered by raising his blade up and cutting the lash whips off. The Prime reared back and swung back at Ulthian. Ulthian quickly swiped his blade up and caught the attack and then swung his blade around to try and catch an opening on the Prime. But just as quickly as Ulthian blocked the previous attack, the Prime parried the strike with ease.
The battlefield was absoute chaos. Eldar bodies lay strung all over the ground as the Tyranids charged forward. Yeril's Avengers fought to keep the oncoming Tyranids from overwhelming them from behnd and taking down their Master Farseer as he battle the Prime.
It was a elegent fight for what it was, the Eldar blocked swiftly and continued to press on the attack against the Tyranid Prime. But with equal skill and speed, the Tyranid Prime countered everything Ulthian threw at it. If this were any battle with any other kind of being, he could respect his opponents skill, but his pure hatred for these abominations drew him only to want to crush the creature even more. His anger and determination flooded over him as sparks began flying uncontrolably from the hilt of Ulthians blade, he began to move with speed even he found unthinkable. For the pure rage that had been unlocked after witnessing Yeril's death, had drawn upon a power inside Ulthian he never knew.
With a quick swipe he parried the Primes attack, and before the beast could react he shot forth a concentrated energy ball at the Tyranid, and with that distraction he lept forward. As the energy smashed against the Prime almost knocking it off of its feet, his blade was already on the move. It quickly found its target as it sliced through the Primes flesh decapitating it before it even had the chance to react. Ulthian stood over the beast as he drove his sword into its skull in a fit of rage.
Ulthian then turned around only to have his small victory short lived. There were thousands of them. Even that was a underestimation he though. The Tyranids were all over them. At the head of the Tyranid onslaught stood their 'leader', the Tyranid had Eldar blood drenched over its four shimmer blades. The Creature looked into Ulthians eyes and he then truly saw the unending hunger and destruction within the Tyranids.
The Swarmlord let out a terrifying roar and it charged forward at the final Eldar line.
"Brace yourselfs my dear friends!", shouted Yeril to the few Eldar that remained standing. "We shall not let them taint our planet any longer!", he cried!
Just as the Eldar all drew their blades to meet the Tyranids in combat at imposible odds, there was a loud screeching heard from the skies.
Ulthian looked up as he saw a red ship come flying through the air and blast away the front charging Tyranids. Just then two more ships made the same strafing run and torn the Tyranid front lines apart.
One of the ships quickly landed behind Ulthian and the hatch blew down in a swift rapid movement.
Ulthian could not believe his eyes as Capitan Titherius charged forward with several Space Marines with their bolters blazing.
"Quickly Farseer, get on board!", shouted Titherius.
"Fall to the Space Marines!", shouted Ulthian as he raised his weapon and fired into the Tyranids as he and his remaining men ran towards the Thunderhawk. Titherius and several Marines ran forward towards Ulthian and the Avengers as they lay down covering fire. Ulthain and one of the Avengers grabed Yeril's body and weapons and ran onboard of the Thunderhawk.
Titherius and his Marines quickly retreated back on board as well.
"Pilot, get us out of here", ordered Titherius.
"Right away Capitan", came the swift response.
The Thunderhawks engines roared as they quickly took them into the skies, just as the Tyranids were almost it.
The Thunderhawk flew over the Tyranids as the Swarmlord watched the ship head into the sky as it let out one final roar.
Epilogue
Ulthian stood over Yeril's body, as the Thunderhawk took them into space to escaped the doomed planet of Illathor.. Ulthian had lost everything, his home, his people, and now he has lost his dearest friend.
"I'm sorry my old friend", said Ulthian, "I tried to save Illathor, and I would have given myself for you, as you have done on so many accounts."
Yeril's Avengers and Capitan Titherius stood behind Yeril as he mourned for Yeril.
Titherius stepped forward beside Ulthian and said, "I am sorry for your loss Farseer. He was a good warrior. I do not have any love or care for any Xenos, but I do have a respect for you and your Eldar Farseer Ulthian."
Turning away from Yeril's body, Ulthian faced Titherius.
"Thank you Capitan Titherius. If not for you returning we would have all fallen to the Tyranids along with our planet. We have spilt far too much of one anothers blood before the Tyranids came to Illathor, and I am sorry for your losses as well.", said Ulthian.
"It won't be long before they finish with your planet, and start their invasion into the rest of the system", said Titherius.
"I must make my way to warn the rest of the Eldar within the system. I will head to our sister world of Kalthanos with my surviving Eldar, there we can prepare to meet the Tyranids head on and stop them.", replied Ulthian.
"Then I shall head to Liava and rally more of the Imperial forces, the Tyranids will be striking Dou'va next, which is unoccupied by neither the Imperium or Eldar. That should buy us time before they arrive at the next Imperial planet before your sister world. Thul'Um shall be our stand against the Ghirda."
"Ghidra?", asked Ulthian.
"It is a word that means Hydra. A serpent with many heads, and for each head you sever, two more come to replace it.", said Titherius.
Turning back to face Yeril, Ulthian felt a tear roll down his face, as he knelt down beside his body.
"Then we shall stop this Ghidra from consuming any more life forever. I will take your stone my friend, you are gone in flesh but your spirit shall live on, and I will return you to this war. We will stand alongside one another one day soon"
Ulthian lifted the spirit stone from Yeril, as he felt the presence of Yeril flow through him.
The End
