Welcome to Komoe Sensei's Acadamy City Primer Class, please
take your seats or Komoe will force you to stay after class, ok?
So let’s begin today’s class with Esper Rankings and power development.
You are probably all aware that Espers are ranked from LEVELs 1-5 while non
Espers are classed as LEVEL 0. But I’m guessing you don’t have much knowledge
of how these levels are classified, and how one develops their level.
If any of you have just arrived you will be having your
first “System Scan” in a few days. This battery of tests is designed to
evaluate the level of raw strength, control, and versatility of your power.
To be classed as LEVEL 1 you must be able to display some
small amount of power. As an example if you’re skill were that of a flame
controller, the ability to produce a small flame, or perhaps some sparks would
suffice.
To be classed as LEVEL 2 you generally need to have gained
at least some basic control of your power, as well as an increase in strength.
At LEVEL 3 your power should be consistent and you should
have some decent higher control.
At LEVEL 4 you would be considered adept with your power,
capable of relatively fine detail control and considerable strength.
By LEVEL 5 you should not only have outstanding fine detail
control of your power, but be capable of tremendous feats of raw power. It
would not be unreasonable for a LEVEL 5 telekineticist to be capable of lifting
a medium sized building out of the ground intact, while performing a puppet
show inside. Also, LEVEL 5 Espers are often found to have an in depth
understanding of their power. As an example Electromasters are known to be able
to sense and even visualize electromagnetic fields and signals.
As far as how one actually progresses from one level to the
next, I refer back to my last class on “Personal Reality”. The best answer I
have once a person has unlocked their potential and become a LEVEL 1, is that
to progress they must practice, train, and learn. Esper Powers are a lot like a
muscle and they can be strengthened by hard exercise of that power. Moreover,
understanding of your power is important. You need to know how it works to
realize its full potential. It is one thing to be an Esper with the ability to
control air currents, but quite another to be an Esper that knows how to use
that power to fly or create a cyclone. Therefore your studies are just as
important as your practice.
*A student raises his hand* So I guess what your saying is we
really just have to keep trying, and not get discouraged right?
That is exactly right!
*Another student raises his hand* Komoe sensei I have a
question, is there such a thing as LEVEL 6? I mean there is LEVEL 5, so why not
LEVEL 6?
*Komoe looks startled for a moment and then thoughtful*
While it is technically theoretically possible and there has been some research done on the subject, nobody has ever been classified
as LEVEL 6. For someone to be LEVEL 6 would require they be “one who has
reached the divine will”, or absolute power in other words. I personally doubt any human could
reach this level, at least by normal means.
*The bell signals the end of class*
Please read from your assigned texts, Komoe looks forward to
seeing you next class!
*Komoe still appears to be thinking hard about LEVEL 6*
