Hello all you cool cats. I'm tired of the board being quiet and I also have been watching a Certain Scientific Railgun and A Certain Magical Index with my brother lately and I love the concepts of the world. So I decided lets see if I can get an rp going.

Since I'm only going to be borrowing the world and its laws the characters and such in the anime won't exist. (Although their powers would.)

The setting a place called Academy City. Which as the name suggest, is a city made of up Academies. The basic idea of these Schools is to train Espers to use their powers and also in basic schooling. The government is also using this city as a testing ground for various experiments on the espers (although this is not public knowledge.) There are many different schools and I want everyone to feel free to make theirs up or be together. Think boarding schools, college, public schools, strict rules, private schools, and then feel free to go onwards. (Although it is still a city so there are normal people living here and restaurants and so on and so forth.)

Now, for a further explanation as to what Espers are. Espers are anyone levels 1-5 that have special powers given to them by what is scientifically called an AIM field. (I'm not going into further details because it doesn't matter.) A level 1 would have very small power (such as destroying rock or feeling heated to touch.) A level 5 would have huge abilities (such as manipulating magnetic fields to fire coins at a hypersonic speed or say intense shadow manipulation.)

Now there will be a few sub types:

Esper: Described above, let me know you want to be this and write up the rest of the character. Message me for the level you would like. Be aware that level 5's are very limited. (There are only 7 and people will want to take you down if you are this. You will be well known.)

Level Zero: You essentially have no powers, but you have the ability to improve. Other Espers will look down on you with pity. Feelings of inferiority should be common.

Child Error: You have no parents and tend to be the governments guinea pigs. If you choose this you may get an extra flaw or perk.

Magical: This will be limited and anyone that chooses to be this will be receiving many messages from me.

Judgement: These are the student security that help protect the people from everyday crimes.

Anti-Skill: Think SWAT and you pretty much captured it. These people deal with the ridiculous (please do not swear).

After this, you are free to be anything from a student to a teacher/scientist/doctor/whatever. Please note that adults are part of anti-skill not judgement. Students are aged 13-17. This is an Anime style so keep that in mind with descriptions if you want.

Other Notes: (Anything not covered above please feel free to use this for anything and everything.)

An additional note. I will be more likely to accept that you are high level if you have a well fleshed out character sheet. If you give me very little to work with I will have to assume that you are lower leveled and therefore looking to develop further. Please feel free to request the magical role if it intrigues you and I will give you some extra backround for it.

Otherwise, I'll post some characters tomorrow. I have no clue when this will get off the ground (or if it will for that matter.) But I would love to start by Wednsday at the latest.

P.S. I would like it if post lengths are a bit enforced on this rp. Please strongly consider using this rp as a way to increase your descriptive and story telling abilities. Don't sign up if you can't promise at least a paragraph of good stuff. (If you are new and I haven't seen you around this will be very lenient and you will be gently encouraged to do better each time.)

Also, in response to Snowdaman, I encourage you to feel free to join. Nobody is a perfect story-teller and when I joined this rp board 4 years ago I used one sentence posts. Since then I've (admittedly become an English Major with a minor in creative and tech writing) and my post length and story telling ability has drastically increased. The pressure in that posting statement is more for the people who have consistently been here for over a year and still insist in posting barely a paragraph for the rest of us to work with.

Since you are new, no such pleaded for restrictions would fall on you and we would all instead hope to help you learn to love forum rp's and with that the posting and story telling would generally increase.

School of the Arts of War, a militaristic scoop designed to train espers perfect control of their powers, how to fight with new and old weapons, different fighting styles and how to incorporate their powers into each move.

Biography: Sylus was orphaned and alone from the start. His mother died giving birth and his father dropped him at an orphanage after only 2 days. He spent several years in the orphange until Liandra adopted him one day. He believed he was getting a kind home but in reality Liandra worked for the governments Esper Creation Project, she was never hard on Sylus and after a while became bonded to him, she became so fond of him she took full custody of him and claimed him as her own son. Sylus didn't care about the test, after all the scientist and his my they only wanted to make him strong. The test went on for close to 7 years and finally several days after Sylus 13th birthday he was released into the care of Liandra under the conditions he was entered into the School of War.

As the years dragged on a young Sylus grew stronger, whether it was from being kicked around by the upper classmen or from the strict training regiment he was giving. Sylus slowly became top of his class and leader of a judgment squad, given the title "The Shadow Dancer"

Uniform- Black trench coat over a solid black shirt. Left Shoulder of the jacket displays schools insignia, a spear crossed over an assault rifle. Right shoulder has the symbol of judgment squad Alpha, a grim reaper's scythe. Pants are black and gray cargo pants, and footwear is black steel toe boots.

Outside of school clothing- Same jacket over a music shirt and jeans with basic converse styled shoes.

Weapon:
Collapsible Scythe, hangs in a specially designed sheath inside of his trench coat.
Handle Length- 6ft
Blade length 3ft 9in

Skills:
Charmer- Sylus knows how to handle the ladies to get what he needs, but he never seems to be able to get a moment of peace.
Weapons Master- While preferring to use his specialty, Sylus is versed in nearly every weapon at the academy except spears, he hates fighting ranged and prefers to be right in the fray of battle.

Personality: Sylus is the quiet type moms always tell there daughters to stay away from and they never listen. He's smooth talking, decently good looking, and knows how to get what he wants off the battlefield. What most people don't know is that Sylus is of two minds and the voice in his head is a monster. Tyamius, as he has been named is Sylus battlefield personality, he's a kill first and ask questions later kind of guy. But without the psychopath in his head making him stronger everytime he tries to tale over Sylus would be about as useful as a dead rat.

Other possession:
Cellphone, specially designed by the school to be used to reach squad members in dire situations. Sylus only has 9 numbers in the phone which include his mother, his 4 other squad members, and several girls who would do anything just to have five minutes with Sylus.
Medication- Sylus must take a single pill with each meal to keep his second personality at bay or cause a scene that could require anti-skills to stop.
ID- Basic identification used to purchase food, supplies, and other items. Given to him by the military in exchange of his services in Alpha Squad.

Other Notes- I covered most stuff in the area where they were needed, only other thing would be his flaws which were somewhat listed to balance out his skills.

The only thing I would advise you with is that you will be very noticeable in that trench coat and that the way your school sounds is like a public school if it is not forcing school uniforms on students.

After that, it all works well. I would say based upon that which is here you can have Level 4 Shadow control. (It is just a step below that of level 5, still fairly rare. You can manipulate any and all shadows around you, but you can only make them solid within a 20 yard radius around yourself. I leave the rest to your creativity on what that can allow you to do. Also, you cannot create shadows from nothing. You can meerly manipulate them. And no shadow jumping as of yet.)

The uniform he wears is bdu styled and only seniors are allowed to roam freely, all others are restricted to the grounds of the academy.

Name: Maric 'The Crowblade' Trynn
Types/Subtypes: Esper Level 4, Child 'Error', Magical
School: The Black Wing, a school/sycho-therapy hospital ward for mentaly unstable espers.
Biography: Maric was born and abandoned before he even knew how to cry. His thin, gangly limbs and unnatural green eyes (All causicans are born with blue eyes) making him a strange baby with ill omen attached. He was taken in by the government after an incident involving 5 children was reported on the streets. 4 were found with injuries and psychological trauma, mny mutterin thins about 'Beaks and wings'. The last was Maric, unharmed aside from the single bruise on his left eye.

Maric proved to be a natural esper, s well as an able Map-Reader. He possessed excellent Animal empathy, but as a result, he had no social skill, often viewin friendly guestures as assaults on his person. After the 3rd incident involving trauma and injury, Maric was moved where he could do less harm- to the Black Wing. Here, he grew to master his powers to keep them from overflowing his brain, but he was still a sociopath. At the mere age of 15, he has been called 'The next great weapon', by some enthusiastic scholars.

Maric's real power comes from his mastery over animals. He has a flock of shadow-ravens that will attack on command, and he can even influence other real animals. He can also harness shadows to cause fear and trauma in his targets.it is these abilitys that have carried him through his life, and he has no desire to change.

Esper Abilitys: Animal empathy/Control - Level 3

Magical Abiltys: Shadow Crows - Level 4: These Shadow crows are horrible magical creatures, capable of inflicting injury - Especially in large flocks - And proving difficult to injure in return. He creates them from Shadows, including his own. The act of summoning the crows diminishes the shadows size.

Any Weapons: Maric doesent really use weapons, thouh he enjoys fencing as a distraction. he carrys a rapier in the walking stick he usually hobble around with, anduses his shdow-bird magic to fight mainly.

Skills: Fencing, Animal Empathy, Orienteering.
Personality: Dark and Grim, almost sociopathic, thouh he will talk if he must, Incredibly biased against adults for their lck of care in his life. ruff, yet quiet, he preffers others talking than him. (not much I cn say really).
Other Possessions: Clothing, backpack, some food and water. Has a bird feeder that is completely empty, for reasons only he knows.

Hope he's Okay. Will try to make these psots constant. Facility is still sittin in my writers block lsit. And the 'A' and 'G' keys are terrible on this computer.

I'll approve your character Esp if you change just a few things.

1. Separate your esper powers and magic powers. The esper power should be communication and control of animals and should be about level 3.

2. Keep in mind that nobody in Academy City believes in magic. It is considered to be a myth so you would be keeping that a secret from everyone.

3. As a child error you would not have entered the school system until the age of 13 so until then you were in a government run orphanage.

Name: Nyanko Teni
Types/Subtypes: Esper Level 4, Judgement
School: Tomagami Private School
Biography: Nyanko comes from a lower class family and was lucky enough to reach level four before she began at Tomagami which allowed her to gain entrance. Her parents were both poor clerks in a grocery store and while both are now deceased she is 17. She passed the tests for judgement almost immediately and is considered to have a very bright future ahead.
Description: Nyanko has long pink hair and wears her school uniform which is fairly bland and basic School girl style. Her eyes are orange and usually smiling. She wears the green judgement band around her arm with pride and usually when she is not in school and is working for them she also wears a leather jacket over it. She is slender and fairly tall. Most people would consider her very beautiful.
Weapons: She carries no weapons. Her level 4 psychokinesis is more than enough to discourage most people judgement deals with.
Skills: Nyanko is very talented with computers, she is trained in basic fighting styles as are all judgement.
Personality: Nyanko is bubbly when away from work and fairly quiet although in a cocky manner. She is fierce when it comes to fighting and she often comes off as all knowing because of her abilities.
Other Possesions: She always has a laptop, cellphone, and many playing cards/dice in her messenger bag.


Name: Haru Tomako
Types: Level Zero
School: None
Biography: Haru is a fairly normal young man. He has no esper abilies to speak of and his only abilities to note are that he can render any and all abilities useless with his hand which as a backlash means he has no Esper powers to speak of. The hand also tends to bring bad luck upon him. He grew up with his parents that still live outside of Academy City. He lives in an apartment by himself and works for some of the teachers part-time helping out. He is 17.
Description. Dark khaki pants and a white, short sleeved button down. He has that lovable goof air about him and his hair is blond. His eyes are grey in color. He always seems to be tripping about.
Skills: He is an average person with no special skills worth mentioning.
Weapons: None
Personality: He will do anything to help those who are his friends and he has a very glass-half full mentality. He is cheerful and kind to everyone.
Other possessions: Money, cellphone, and a keycard to swipe into any of the science labs around.

Espers naturally have their powers. (As in they are born with the innate ability to do (fill in the blank) and over time are able to develop a control over that power.

Magic powers are studied from grimoires and have historically been used by magicians to combat Esper powers. (Think the common man's way of dealing with Espers.) Magic is considered to be a myth invented by churches. If you claim to have magical powers almost nobody will believe you. Magic requires lots of components and if you think occult you are fairly close.

If you understand this: Magic is equivalent to wizards in DND and Espers are Equivalent to Sorcerers. The difference between study and natural talent.
