How many Termagants per squad?

I'm interested to know whether other people favour small, medium, or large sized units of Termagants in 6th edition.

Do you prefer to saturate the board with multiple cheap squads of 10-12 gants that can hunker on objectives and hopefully avoid taking fire because of their combat-irrelevance and the opponent's focus on killier threats (but give up easy VPs in Purge the Alien and First Blood)?

Or do you tend towards the medium range of 14-18 where they're still cheap enough to stop advancing and hold position without you feeling like you've taken a huge amount of points out of action (but possibly large/expensive enough for the opponent to consider their destruction worthwhile)?

Or do you field massive units of 20+ that are geared for durability, but so expensive that you fall short of maxing out your Troops slots?

Personally, I've been using lots of ~12 model units of Termagants, with occasional forays into the ~14-16 range for larger games.

I tend to take 10 man squads so that I can take Tervigons as troops, the Tervs then spawn more termagant units to spread out and take objectives.

This is just me, but i prefer to have 20 in a squad, i dont have any tervigons so the squad has got to do its job.

10 vanilla, holds back lines.
15 vanilla, extra wounds for a tyranid prime
15 devourers, powerful, not a point sink. Hit hard, hit well
20 devourers, spore I guess? I don't like that many. It hurts my points, monstrous creatures are expensive.
20 vanilla, wall I guess is why people do this. It seems a bit cumbersome.

I've found that 20 devourers tends to be the sweet spot for them. I've given up on podding them in and have just started walking them up the board, and that's increased their survival rate by quite a bit. It's one of the units I always end up taking, as it always does well for itself.

If I'm running basic termagants to unlock a second troop Tervigon, I usually just run them in groups of 10-15 or so, depending upon however many extra points I have left in the list.

I like 2 broods of 20 devil-gaunts and then 2 tervagons to spawn the rest of my gaunts. At this time I do not have any herms but plan on fielding some now and am looking at around 18 per brood, and only have enough stealers for 2 15 model broods with a brood lord. I dont use warriors too often but when I do its around 6 per brood as 3 die too fast and 9 is just way to many points.

That is a little under/over (depending on the tervigon build) 800 points by itself. That's a lot for anti infantry

Broods of 10 if they're just there to unlock a Troops Tärv.

15-20 if I'm expecting them to function as more than just a bare minimum screen.

In 5th Ed I would run broods of 20+ on average, a decent chunck of bodies able to tie things up as necessary and otherwise be a nuisance.

However with the changes to cover in 6th have started taking smaller broods of 15 models; seen as cover is now determined on a per-model basis I find it often gets tricky to get all 20 gants into a safe position.

I typically use 20 devilgants in a spore to drop in behind the enemy to make a mess, plus they draw fire away from more valuable foot sloggers. I also usually spore in around 50% of my team so having devilgants along with Doom, maybe a fex, Deathleaper, etc. dropping usually turn 2 with a tyrant equals a mess for the enemy to deal with.
I use 10 vanilla for tervigon troops when not employing the strategy above.

I like large broods of Termagants. I usually run one that is at least 25, but very rarely will I ever let it drop below 20. I prefer to get it as close to 30 as I can.

But to me, Gants aren't a screen or a backfield objective holder, but rather an integral fighting force supported by OA, FNP, and TS/AG Tervigons.
