@ scrotatohead: just an FYI, as an ex-tanker, I can tell you fully 100%, full track vehicles are QUITE capable of doing full 360s in place... Now, if your oppenent is brushing paint with a ruin, I can see your beef. But even then, a ruin is a ruin, If an armored behemoth can stand the bombardment of tank killing weaponry and be just fin, I doubt highly a few bricks would matter much to it.
That aside...
Parkinglots are done, through as much as I have heard. we're not the only ones that got boosted to take them out, there is still krak spam, and that would more than easily wipe a parking lot, one turn, it's a done deal. Actual ARMOR lists, they still have viability more or less. Like I said before, the IG death-by-pieplate still has a LOT of merit, as from third up (when I started playing) Basalisks had the good fortune of never needing to leave the back field to blast an opponent to the nine hells. Necron flier lists are up and coming, and skimmer hell kudos to the Dark Eldar is out there. Let's not forget tau or ork speed kults either... neither of these setups would be too terribly effected by the new damage charts, as they fell apart in droves, yet still won in the end.
Parkinglots are dead, mech is still very much alive...

@pax:
I am having a hard time here... You said vehicles benefit from area terrain when whiles rules specifically exempt them (where you might be thinking of MC's who don't have that disadvantage, MC's and vehicles are similar but not the same and serve different purposes and follow different rules, as opposed to last edition where a mc was basically treated as a vehicle with tons of penalties and increased points cost and size)
Also, those MC close combat rolls reroll to pen. So, while it may be less overall damage, hull points make up for that a bit. On a landraider it's not unrealistic to say 4 hits with a trygon. 3's with rerolls or auto hits on 4 attacks isn't really that hard. Maybe on a usual bad roll, 3. And then you have those 4 that reroll themselves, and it was the reason I took poison on my tyranid primes last edition.
Not likely to get rid of it in one round of combat with hull points, but not unrealistic to say it can get rid of it... And still more effectively than last edition.
There are other points I'll address tomorrow
EDIT: just a thought I wanted to add before bed. I stupidly went with something funny today (dual flyrants) and they really didn't live up to the hype everyone has been giving them. Maybe it's because I went second, maybe it was because I just couldnt realistically hide both of them... Ext. all I do know is that, despite being more fragile, mech still holds the greatest firepower... Like... In the game. The greatest gun platforms are still vehicles. I'm annoyed with Grey knight storm ravens. That was a real shock to me. I still pulled off a win because of objectives, but after fire like that and all those points I invested I had to fight for it...
I don't underestimate mechs positives, I think the creep is just trying to underplay their negatives.

Yes I do, I say that mech was so so so so broken powerful that just because it now has disadvantages, its still by far to good for its points. Its not a total nobainer anymore e.g. you have to be careful about melee. So if you are fast and good at range like crons you have to consider keeping the distance. Flying MCs that arent Demons are awful against flyers. Free grounding tests as it hits the MC and all you have against the shooting is 5+ cover and an eventual Biomancy buff. Not to be able to start in Swooping mode on the table is awful. You can do it after deepstrike so you maybe could try that. In fact we all are idiots to play Nids instead of something that can has IG as Battle Brothers and works without psykers. I thought at least that should be clear. I love the bugs and a Tyrantstar/2 Tervifex, 3 Tervifex, 9 HG, 30 Gargoyle list might be really the way to go now which would give me some joy to win tournaments without loads of luck. Its been some time VA... can anybody answer me a question? Can he do that just because he is to lazy for subtilety and had a hard childhood? Would like to challenge him to a duel for his words. But it would honestly feel like shooting a cripple in a wheelchair in the back at a duel with machineguns where he arrived unarmed anyway. Lord that was a poor post buddy. Thats all you have? For real? Oh my, oh my, do i have to act insulted now?^^ Don't know if I have to laugh because it was so bad or because no one else realizes. Lord in fact this is so funny my jaw already hurts... that really made my day. Thanks a lot for... erm your "oppinion"? Would prefer to call it different though... No offense taken, sorry if you wanted me to. I would be interested in the answer. I missed the internet, trolls everywhere (obviously including me), so much fun in every possible way, plus people who didn't learn not to take every kind of stuff so serious^^ and yes as far as I know im sober today so you are welcome to take this partially seriously. I'm still not native english speaking so naturally I don't give to much of a f*ck on this as long as someone can enjoy reading it. feel free to count the mistakes if you need some kind of occupation therapy though... Im off to get a massage for my lower face half laughing too hard really hurts

@ Creep, What does shooting an unarmed cripple in the back at a duel with machineguns feel like? I bet it's more fun to do than inserting LEGO blocks in someones behind. (Makes you think why I chose the name Lane's End, right?) You should really watch out with laughing too hard. I saw a movie once, where a couple of weasels laughed so hard, they died and fell into a pool of paint-thinner. And if you think the internet provides fun in every possible way, you really should try a menage a trois. PS. Mech is dead

I like this guy, can I adopt him?^^ Feels like no accomplishment at all... complete waste of time believe me. menage a trois... you got me there .... actually had to google that Well you shouldn't ever do it with your girlfriend or people you really like for obvious reasons.... and its been really exhausting (would never even consider doing it as a 2m 1w call me uptight if you want). I can live with the normal thing quite fine, my ego is big enough to do fine without a retake. I won't comment further on this topic as a somehow partially twisted kind of deep down partial gentlemen... somewhere at least... i guess Just imagine mech kicked you out of your bed and took your place in a menage a trois, thats how you should feel about mech if you played tyranids seriously in 5th Hm i guess I wouldn't mind dying from laughing to hard, would regret not to choose whats written on my gravestone. ...oh damn I have to write a will now, just in case, that sounds like fun^^

Just imagine mech kicked you out of your bed and took your place in a menage a trois Well, since Mech is dead, that would be called necrophilia. To answer your other question: No, it's really a shame, but you can't adopt me. See, I was already adopted after the demise of my real father, the Machine God.

Well then I'm off to slaughter the machine god. Hope you won't have any issues about this standing between us afterwards. I'm looking forward to a flabberghasted machinegod... a mere mortal will try to punch him in the face.... or any equivalent of that, don't know yet. necrophilia? All the more reason to hate it, don't you agree? Imagine it as a flyer that will channel the hatred even better

Spacewolves got trashed which where kind of our arch enemy and are now lulz. I haven't really been following other armies, too busy building up my crons and supplementing my nids lately, so this kind of shocked me. Care to elaborate why a million missiles is a bad thing?

Definitely a kid. Probably 16ish.
You can tell, because he tries way too hard.
Never been kissed, also, because he claims he's had a threesome.
Probably never won a game either, because he thinks Mech is good.
PS: My girlfriend is reading this thread, and almost fell out of her chair.

I tried to do this the nice way.... with a simple warning....
Creep: You continued anyway, *and* bypassed the swear filter...
Consider this an official warning. If you continue in this manner, or ever bypass the swear filter again, it will lead to a vacation from TTH.

I remember when this thread was about Mech.
Good times they were too, talking about vehicles. Now it's all about three ways and hardcore zombie vehicle sex. I personally blame the economy.
Anyways! I've always personally been about the terrain myself, in terms of what affects the battlefield most. Now I've yet to properly play a 6th ed match, but I'm interested in how much terrain affects vehicles now, in terms of protection and interference and the like. I used to play 5th in a meta where we used a lot of ruins for terrain so mech never had the best of chances there.
However, if I recall, the rules demand more terrain that just 25% this time round (I could be wrong). Is that making a particular impact on vehicles?

psychic, terrain goes both ways, one of my recent matches I was able to guard my unit of hormis from a dreadnaut for mst of the game, effectively taking it out of the game while my tyrant and trygon ate the squishies....

Mech is Dead.
this does not mean that no one is ever going to run a transport; but they will no longer be the mainstays, they have been nerfed in many different ways.
You can no longer assault out of a transport You can no longer score, nor Deny, with (or in) a transport Vehicles are now hit on 3+ in assault Any unit that shot at the transport can assault the passengers (assuming destroyed)
Hull Points: This does more than just kill vehicles, it changes the meta for vehicle killing. I can now *rely* on a dozen Hgaunts or gargs to take out almost any vehicle in the game. Even boltguns can be looked at as anti vehicle. You no longer *need* those S8+ guns/Pfists to deal with vehicles, any assaulting S4 unit, or S5/6 gun can deal with most vehicles.
Plus, hull points always end in a wreck, not explode. So my gargs can not only take out that tranport, but kill all the passengers, and not take a wound.
I had someone post a rhino rush list. (move 18", pop smoke), I realized I could probably kill all 6 rhinos *and* their contents with my current list.

Where is the like botton when you need one? I'm with voracious and wisdom with this one. As for my opinion, I think mech is not as good as before, but I don't say they are useless, you just have to use them differently; Assault vehicles for assault, gun tanks for dakka, transport vehicles are just to cover your infantry against small firearms and/or for mobility. You use your vehicles to make sure that your infantry is covered while claiming or denying objectives (of course outside of their transport).
