Tfex Acid Spray and Wound Allocation

Anyway, will Tfexes be awesome little cherry pickers by doing hook shots with acid spray? Do templates still allow opponents to pick casualties? Or does it still wound the closest model to the Tfex?

i would say the closest to the small end of the template

Rulebook says you start taking saves on the model closest to the firing unit, which would be the Tyrannofex regardless of what crazy english you put on the acid spray.

The only exception are barrage, they remove from closest to the center of the barrage.

Bummer! I was hoping the tfex would become a massive, lumbering assassin. Ok so the hook shot is still just for maximizing wounds.

Somewhat related, does the Overwatch rule allow a Monstrous Creature to fire all of its weapons? Because that combined with standard Powerweapons being AP3 would make the Tfex pretty survivable. It would also go nice with the fluff about the creature exuding pheromones to signal danger.

Overwatch is resolved as a normal shooting attack, albeit at BS1. So the Tyrannofex can definantly overwatch with his main gun plus carapace weapon (unless it is the Blast version, as Blast weapons cannot snap fire.)

Only thing I'm unsure with is the thorax weapon, as it could be considered an 'ab-normal' shooting attack? But I would say as he can fire it in the shooting phase you get it in overwatch too, although of course you'd only get D3 hits.

Wow, it doesn't say what happens if you charge a MC and it has multiple guns.... I'm going to do some more rules digging, they probably just put it somewhere weird.

My group and I looked at the overwatch rules today when a Wraithlord was charged. The rules says you can fire normally but all shots are resolved as snap fire. If I recall, all guns minus blast weapons are eligible, template weapons like flamers do d3 hits and as a monstrous creature, the Wraithlord was able to fire two weapons.

We also rapid fire, use the full shot allotment for assault weapons (devourers being assault 3), etc... I am curious how other play this aspect of the game. We are only seeing a wound or two from overwatch on average and sometimes it can be ignored with an armor save or cover save.

Oh man, I can't believe I missed this. Thank you Coredump! Looks like my Basilisks have just become character snipers.

Does this mean special weapons and heavy weapons can be picked out via (what I am now going to christen) 'centre-hole artillery sniping'? Or is it just ICs.

Nope, you place the hole of the marker where you want, so much easier to target the heavy or special weapon. I'm not sure about 'Look Out, Sir', but I think that can only be used to protect characters.

Something to remember is that the Thorax Swarms are fired in addition to the two weapons that a Monstrous Creature is allowed to fire. Something to remember when upgrading Hive Tyrants too.
