Wow I haven't posted here for a while, time to be drawn in once more.
Here's the scene,
Your part of an Imperial mining crew, working in the Linea asteroid belt. Your mining crew has been working their way threw the asteroids for quite some time now due to the unusually high quantities of mineral ore found within.
The mining transport is on it's way back from delivering the latest shipment leaving the only Auroras class mining cruiser and a few small emergency short range shuttle craft at your disposal.
The Cruiser, "Sarah" as the local miners call her, is armed with a hull mounted lasers and mining explosives, which are catapulted from a rear turret mounted cannon. The shuttles have no defenses of any kind except for an exterior shield.
Your mining base is attached to a large asteroid. It is a small 3 level structure with a large mineral storage bay built into the surface of the asteroid. The structure has a las cannon turret used to destroy approaching asteroids.
Within the station is a control room which has a short range transmistter, a small kitchen and mess hall, storage room, air lock, locker room with a personal locker and equipment case for each member of the team, (This is also where the space suits are kept). The station also has a series of sleeping quarters, and a recreation room. The final feature of the station is the garage which contains 6 astro bikes (much like motor bikes), and a mining tank, (incapable of space travel this beast of a machine is transported to the surface of an asteroid where it's magnetic tracks keep it firmly planted so it can dig).
That sums up where you are now for your crisis, seeing as we need a crisis.
An ork warboss has sent a cruiser to the asteroid belt for the same reasons you are there, to mine. They are on the far side of the belt so not an immediate threat, however they when they came to the sector they decided that mining the rocks would be boring so they brought some sport with them. These orks have brought a primitive version of the tyranids.
(less advanced so incapable of space travel these creatures have adapted to survive in the cold darkness of space, they can sustain themselves off of a single meal for months at a time. Unlike the tyranid threat they don't have shooting weapons but they do have sharp claws and talons and teeth as well as larger versions of the smaller creatures. They do not have the same synaptic connection as the tyranids so they work more independently than a hive.)
As you've probably already guessed the orks have released these creatures into the asteroid belt for little more than sport. They have found your station and have been stalking the grounds and you for quite some time now.
You have received a distress signal from an imperial exploration team that has crashed about half way between you and the ork base.
Your mission even though your not marines is to venture out and rescue the guardsmen aboard the vessel before they are eaten by tyranids or hunted and looted by orks. They have the weapons to hold out for a short number of days but after that their dead. Rescue them and return to the station where you'll hold out until the cruiser "sarah" returns to evacuate you.
Now for your characters:
You may choose any features and either gender you wish, your character is completely yours.
As far as weapons and gear is concerned every character posses:
-survival knife (12 inch blade)
-extreme environments hazard suit (a space suit)
-digital wrist devise that provides a holographic map of the asteroid belt and a layout of the station, yes it tells time as well.
-survival kit (food rations and medical equipment)
-magnetic mining boots
you may also choose 3 items from the following last:
-plasma cutter (a pistol that projects a beam of plasma to a max of 2 meters, can cut through anything)
-Laser torch (emits a high heat wave up to 20 meters melting minerals for easy extraction, requires 15 second charge up before every use)
-jet pack
-mining bombs (small devices that can create a large crater)
-upgraded hazard suit (lighter, faster, overhead display of surrounding are, and customizable look)
-plasma shovel (plasma enhanced tip allows the user to dig through even the hardest of material easily)
-operation flares (used to illuminate a large area though can be blinding when unexpectedly activated)
"OR" 3 items from the officer list: -If you choose from this list your character automatically gains a las pistol with enough ammunition for about 500 shots-
-upgraded hazard suit (same as above)
-Jet pack
-operation flares
-las. rifle (a medium range defensive weapon, minimal amounts of ammunition, 200 or 300 shots)
-grenade launcher (a medium range explosive weapon 10 shells of ammunition)
-proximity mines (when activated they explode when a foreign object enters within it's 5 meter kill zone, not dangerous to friendlies)
All items chosen are kept in the locker room within your assigned locker or equipment case.
So there you have it I'll start when we have a minimum of 5 players not including myself.
Speaking of myself, here's my characters profile:
Name: Steve (but everyone calls him Skinny)
Gender: male
Age: 28
Days Spent at the Station: 368
Inventory: Plasma Cutter, Upgraded hazard suit, Operation flares.
Appearance: He is 5'10 with muscular arms and legs a tough chest. His face is hard with dirty blonde dreads falling at shoulder length from his head.
Background: Skinny was sent to the mining station by a private company to aid in the operations happening in the asteroid belt. He was due to head home after 6 months of work but due to the companies limited resources getting too the station is easy but getting away is difficult. He has been stuck at the station working long hours for a little over a year now. He's not the most pleasant of personalities.
As I said I will start the game when enough characters have arrived at the station.
