Darian IX was a lonely world. Discovered in the year 2919 'military calender' It was by far the most distant, the most isolated of all the United Federation of Planets' colonies. Under normal circumstances this obscure planet in an almost exclusively uninhabitable system would be far too costly to even consider having an outpost established on it, let alone an entire colony. but this one unique planet had such a densely packed asteroid belt, the remains of some long destroyed moon, which contained unimaginably pure and densely packed minerals and alloys, it was too rich a prize to pass up. Thus in 2935 the first colony was established on the surface of the planet to harvest these rare ores. Within 17 years of its founding, the colony had grown from a few thousand explorers to one hundred thousand miners, pilots, and farmers. It now provided 1/5 of all the UFP's mineral demand to its 73 inhabited planets. And to all the 700,000 colonists every man women and child, this was yet another normal day.

In this role play you will play yourself essentially. That means no super powers, no telekineses, no gloomy past with a warp beast trapped inside you. Just you, or rather you if you had lived and grown up on a mining world such as Damian IX 900 years in the future. If you are an avid role player on these boards and are interested in a fun and exiting story, then post you character description being sure to include some helpful details that will help me structure this role play. Name: Lewis Carter

Gender: Male

History: Lewis lived the mine. His father took him down to work with him every day, increasing Lewis' fasination in the mine. Starting work at the age of 14 he learnt the tips and tricks on how to cut the mineral so not to harm the outside rock and fuse the two together. As he grew up he developed muscles that helped him mine but also to fight.

Equipment: Mark VII Hard Hat [with light], Mining Laser and his lucky mining gloves.

Age: Technically, 2 weeks.

Gender: N/A, though typically male

History: Constructed by a rather too enthusiastic roboticist, Necromikon-Delta37 was built for the purpose of helping the mining crews, however somehow he broke free of his command structure and destroyed his creator. Upgrading himself multiple times, he managed to get hold of military-grade weaponry and equipment. He now hides out in the mines, deep in the catacombs of the planet.

Appearance: Looks exactly like a Necron Immortal. (I like those guys! they are awesome looking)

Equipment: Darkmatter Particle Beamer (like a railgun, but with a black beam that seems to swallow light, and that disentegrates and cauterizes flesh or metal on contact), hacking software.

Affiliation: Neutral, as his programming is still fragile and learning 'the ropes', you might say. He'll side with pretty much the first person he meets.

OOC: If it's too overpowered or something, tell me. I just like darkmatter railguns. And necrons. And tyranids. BTW, what is the actual antagonist? or is it meant to be secret?

Heh, Heh, For now it's a secret.

Essentially this role play takes place in a fictional universe in the future, [Edit] not necessarily the 40k one, in which all of you grew up or immigrated to Darian IX with your parents or alone. The United federation of planets, founded upon the close of the Earth-Mars war for independence, has expanded to the surrounding systems of which Darian is the most distant. As for characters, you play yourself. Albeit yourself 900 years in the future on an alien world relatively isolated from the rest of humanity. A Military grade super cyborg with uninhibited abilities and weapon options might be pushing it a bit though. Try to think of someone you always wanted to be like a hacker, a pilot, a farmer, or even a colonial militia instructor and apply it to this role play.

Name: Nikolai Smolenski

Age:32

Decscription: Nikolai was from Russian descent and migrated to Darian IX at the age of 19. He quiclky grew to love working in the mine but, he found the leadership from the mine coordinator flawed. He always disagreed with the methods of the mine coordinator and so was removed from working in the mine. Nikolai was viewed a failure and an out-cast. He lived alone for many years before secretly starting a Rebel organisation, designed to over-throw the mine authorities and protect the workers from harm. but if any of the workers got in his way, then the taking of their lives was neccessary for the protection of the many more. Smuggling of weapons and ammuntion was Nikolai's main priority now.

OK, let me summarize, This is a stand alone role play. It has nothing to do with the events of warhammer, or warhammer 40k. The following is general information your character should know. The planet of Darian IX is the ninth significant mass out from the sun. The inner ones are mostly small uninhabitable planetoids. Beyond Darian IX are a few more planetoids and a gas giant, P3-772. Darian gets its funding from a conglomerate of mega corporations that fund the transport of goods and materials to and from the planet. The surface of the planet is covered in machine run farms and a few eco- constructs (skyscraper like buildings with a farm on every story) in key areas. Most of the planets population lives on the surface of Darian IX and takes transit to work every day. Around 37% of the planets population works in the orbital asteroid field, the remains of a long destroyed moon, that orbit the planet in a relatively stable elliptical orbit. The other 63% of the population operate the farming equipment, work in the business districts, oversee climate control, work in the refining plants, or attend to other necessary tasks. A multitude of cargo freighters rendezvous with Darian IX once every six months to drop off supplies and load on mined minerals.

Background history: The Mars- Earth War for Independence of 2832 marked the beginning of the conflict between the inner and outer colonies. Initially Mars was relatively dependent on Earth for its very survival, but over time that dependency evaporated as large mega corporations moved in to profit from the vast unused resources of this new home. After years of tension and similar occurrences happening on various other newly inhabited planets, the war broke out. It was a lopsided war for the outer colonies since most of humanities military might was concentrated in the inner colonies. The only real defiance seen in the war was Mars's fleet of dated yet time tested ships. As the only one of the inner colonies to rebel it was out numbered and out gunned. Still, unwilling to back down Mars held off for 27 months to the day whereupon a treaty was signed between all of Earth's colonies granting (somewhat) equal representation in the galactic embassy on Earth. Still many on the outer rims of human space resented the fact that many of the the large mega corporations soon re-established a somewhat quieter control of the outer colonies shortly after the treaty. So, scattered throughout the colonies the small group of rebels, calling themselves The Free People of Earth and her Colonies (TFPEC), fight for independence from Earth and equal rights on all the colonies.

Sorry for not getting this straight in the first post guys, but hear it is now. I would prefer to have only one of each archetype, so since LewisC is already a miner, BarkBlast you should be a technician on either the farming equipment or the repair and refitting of ships at the space port, whereas Crushing Claws would fit in well to the story as part of the small group of TFPEC on Darian IX being the only major military aspect on the planet.

Technician/Hacker...but still a military grade cyborg, right? Maybe instead of being made by a mad scientist I can actually just be an experimental weapon or something. You know, like less manpower, more firepower?
