What stands out to me as the biggest red flag is the "no named characters" bit. I... I really doubt that. Some of them look like generic HQs. Voxcaster, Holotable, Medic, maybe even the Femagus as an alt model for the normal Magus. Assassin and Gunslinger look generic to me as well, though the Gunslinger could be unique as well. But the weird robed samurai guy? That screams backstory to me. He's too specific. Small tail sticking out the bottom, anti-purity seals... he just feels like a named character. I'm actually thinking that the group of 4 revealed on the community site are named, or none of them are, just based on how the article talks about them. Also, the biggest thing for me about that is the female magus: when has GW ever released two concurrent kits that just differ aesthetically? About all I can think of is SM limited release stuff, and even then I think they sometimes differ on wargear.

No named characters is definitely a big fat carnifex dump, one way or the other.

How about you don't jump to conclusions? Nah. I'll be a-jumping until the codex drop.

I can't imagine aesthetic alternatives are high on the GSC priority list. I'm eager to hear more about the 'blip' mechanic (if its not a false leak). I was hoping for CA to just be adjusted, for it to be scrapped entirely is certainly a surprise. Amen! The wait is excruciating but these 'leaks' are getting me buzzed!

No named characters is definitely a big fat carnifex dump, one way or the other. I actually prefer that, I don't like how most armies are super reliant on their named characters. They're often much better and not much more expensive than their non-named counterparts which often forces you into playing a specific subfaction to compete. It also limits the fluff of your army immensely if you include them with GSC as we aren't spacefaring you'd essentially be tied to the storyline (and planet) of whatever character your include.

Eh, depends on how the named characters function: I find that some can give a lot more flavour and function to an army (say, Swarmlord) than you'd otherwise get with generic characters. I mean, depends if you want less but unrestricted I guess? Edit: Considering that the female magus wouldn't even be a new unit otherwise, it'd just give us more options.

I love the design of the Genestealer Cult Maga and i would buy her without a second thought even without new fancy rules.
I already plan a conversion of the Drill, will try to crossbreed it with an sec. Mechanicus Servohauler and Baneblade/ Malcador or solar auxillia Dracosan.
Im hyped... im sorry, GW broke me again...

No One, Primaris Lieutenants. There are currently 9 of them, only 3 (Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and Space Wolves) are Chapter specific. There are at least 4 Space Marine Captain models available. Two Techmarine models. There are normal and Terminator variants of Librarians and Chaplains. There is the generic Dark Angels captain, then the alternate sculpt only available in the Dark Imperium boxset (the DA vs Chaos starter set that came out with 6th, I may have the wrong name). Not only is it common to have variants for HQs, as GW is has moved towards monopose models it has become MORE common. I can easily see the Femagus being a named character. I can also just as easily see her as our ONLY stand alone Magus. Why release a clampack for the Magus that came in Overkill and the Broodcoven box? Everyone has 1 already (or 3). I wouldn't bother with a new Magus that was just differently posed, but a female one to make my army less of a sausage fest? Especially one that looks so badass? Yah, I'll be getting a couple of her. I really don't get a named vibe for the Voxcaster though. The Voxcaster only has generic equipment, nothing distinguishing (imo). He looks fundamentally similar in design to the Iconward. My bets based solely on my own experience as a professional sculptor: Generic HQs: - Bike Sniper (the article even calls her a "Jackal Alphus", which sounds generic to me). - Gunslinger/"Kelermorph." - Voxcaster. - Holotable. - Dr. Thiswillonlyhurtabit. Named: - Samurai Jack. Could Honestly Go Either Way: - Femagus. - Mr. Wedon'thaveenoughassassinsalready

Two Techmarine models. And how many don't have any difference in wargear or are limited edition? That's what I was getting at. (Also, SM is always different with array of model selection: poster boys for a reason) With regards to this, something I've just realised: she basically has to be a named character, or magus will get a datasheet change, since she has a cultist knife, which isn't an option for a magus. And GW is very picky about wargear options now. Or alternatively, why bother releasing a clampack magus at all when you can force people to buy an overcosted box (broodcoven) to get them .

Couldn't agree more. One of my favourite things about Nids is that their named characters can be "spawned" at any time by any hivefleet, allowing them to blend with whatever fluff you've concocted. I hate using other army's named characters, and I really hope GSC follow the Nid model.

I'd be amazed: GSC is much more about the individual narrative than nids.

I find it odd with rumors as there is a cycle of "Here are the rumors" everyone pitching in their 2 cents that "Naw MaTe tHem RumoRs ArE FaKE" codex drops and the rumors were accurate, everyone goes "Yeah see, told you those rumors were right". I"m sure I'm not the only person to notice it. To all those people who are constantly proven wrong when the books drop I gotta ask (If you'll own up to being wrong) how many rumor drops have to come out and be right before you don't just auto screech that they're fake?
As the rumors stand they look pretty good to me. I like the idea of blips as you show up 9" away just like you would on a deep strike so unless your opponent gets closer on purpose you're getting the same distance as everyone else. No more (please do not swear) showing up from board edges and people complaining that you get to show up and move, unless there are stratagems for that now. And decoy markers are fun so you can trick your opponent on where the majority of your forces will be. Have to wait and see on those traits because I've noticed with a lot of the newer ones they're copy and paste plus an extra rule to make them more unique.
The biggest thing I'm excited for are 7 point Acolytes, they are way to overcosted as is, a guardsmen with 2 attacks isn't worth 11 points plus upgrades. Also here is to hoping they make hand flamers D6 like sisters and much cheaper as well. Paying more for a S3 flamer with less shots than a normal flamer is dumb. I like acolytes but as they stand their gear isn't worth taking because the platform it's on. T3 5+ is too easy to drop to sink 50-100 points into upgrades on them. Personally I just stick to Neophytes with the current rules. Oh and Purestrains dropping down to 12 like Hivestrains, no reason to have the same unit cost more in another book.

killercroc, well we are on our 3rd set of GSC rumours that all conflict so literally 2/3rds have to be fake. Generally speaking I am skeptical of any rumours that come out before pre-orders are announced, much more open to the ones after. Generally speaking the playtesters seem to be pretty good about holding their tongues until the pre-order announcement, and then once books start shipping someone always gets an early copy.

But why would they not do either that, or move away? Turning a 9" charge into a 'dead' or 12"+? Now, strats/units may change how it'd work, but it's looking like your opponent's have a lot of options to stuff you over. Except they get a better deployment option: they should cost more. 15? Maybe not, especially when you consider troops and all of the mobility options nid stealers have, but still.

Generally speaking the playtesters seem to be pretty good about holding their tongues until the pre-order announcement, and then once books start shipping someone always gets an early copy. Well I mean in reference to other ones. Ork rumors were solid, Tau rumors were, CA 2018 rumors were solid, Tyranid rumors were pretty solid too. I've seen far more rumors be accurate than not but it seems like everyone nay-says them anyway. GSC rumors I'd say weren't wrong but rather just some loser with no life lying online for attention. Because there is reading/interpreting something wrong and posting it online so the rumor isn't 100% true (which happens a lot but the gist is still there) then there is making up fake things just because. It's sad really. I do mean yes, take it with salt but there is taking it with salt and then just telling everyone that they're wrong and dismissing all of it. But why would they not do either that, or move away? Turning a 9" charge into a 'dead' or 12"+? Now, strats/units may change how it'd work, but it's looking like your opponent's have a lot of options to stuff you over. It all depends on strats, if you can move blips or drop more and they have to be set up 9" away you can get them at some interesting places. Oh and if you can reveal them turn 1 that means you can drop all your reserved cult units 9" away from your opponent start of the game so you have half your army 9" away the other half moving up. That's better than half of them showing up randomly turn 2 and potentially in a way they do nothing. Paying for it depends I think, if we're running on the assumption that the reason GSC cult units costs more than like non-cult units is the cult ambush ability then all the units in the codex are more expensive for a special rule that only half of the arm can use at any point which makes no sense. I mean to be fair it is GW so stupid things that are obvious errors are their specialty The alternative I guess would be 1 CP to put units into ambush that way the cost is the same on models. And for anyone not running an ambush heavy army (why wouldn't you but to each their own right?) they're not penalized by having to pay more points for a rule they're not using if it was a deployment strat. They could have done it like the Ork ambush, PL8 or less is 1 CP 9+ is 2 and you can infiltrate anything. Just a thought.
