Renewed progress on the Grey Tide

Again I try to make progress on getting my Tyranid swarm built and painted for it has been a very long time coming. Thanks to everyone on the forum for such wonderful ideas and the much needed motivation. Would really like to thank almostmercury for their help in particular for helping to work out my color scheme. Hope to use this thread to continue the motivation in getting things done, will post my progress as i'm able.
Here is the core color scheme I've chosen to go with. Still got a few extra areas of color to work out, such as the brain. I apologize for the lighting.

Managed to get a another Zoanthorpe and a Neurothorpe done to go with the first model i got painted and is the first brood i have "done". Hopefully these picks are better for ya'll to see.

Anyone got any suggestions on what color(s) to do the brains? So far what I've come up with was starting with Bugman's Glow, apply a brown wash, the lighten it up from there with other skin tones. Looking at it from a color theory perspective, the complementary color would be that of Caledor Blue.

I would use some shade of blue for the brain. It's a perfect compliment to the orange hue of the highlights.

Sorry for the long wait in posting stuff, been a bit hectic around here. I finally managed to work out a color scheme for the Zoanthorpes brain that didn't bug me. Ended up using screaming skull as a base, then applied carroburg crimson over the whole brain. Once dried i added a wash of druchii violet to the outer edges wherre the brain meets the outer flesh. the veins i did by using xereus purple as a base then gave them a highlight of genestealer purple.

i feel the models are still missing something but i am as yet able to figure out what that might be, till then i've decided to start working on a Termagaunt brood of 30 and the fleshborers nd devourers i have magnetized for them.

The brain part blends a bit, but those veins pop nicely.

I agree with blackrainbow. The veins are spectacular even if the brain blends a bit. You're a great painter so you don't need any advice from a schlep painter like me. Paint scheme is ballin!

Hey charon, I'm purchasing some Zoanthropes in the not too distant future for my Hive fleet Monarch (orange and dark grey). This was a huge help, I was completely stuck on what paints I'll need.
