Go for the Herald first. Take out the Kingsward before going for The High King. Depending on your approach, The Gatekeeper or The Master of Judgement may be higher priority. And yeah, keep your eye on the actual victory conditions at all times.

Tyranids can use aerial army (and this type of army is overall good against most of threats). This formation doesn't have any serious anti air factor and generates only d6 WC points. 3 flyrants, aided by 3 hive crones can take knights into crossfire and omit ion shield saves. Twin devourers and haywire missiles are very effective at stripping HPs away. S8 vector strike has 50% chance to take away hull point (hit is resolved at side AV, but save can only be taken if hive crone flew over shielded facing) and VS is dealt in movement phase so it is easier to trick ion shield again. Psychic powers like warp blast or onslaught are very useful against knights. Warp blast, because it shoots before ion shield reposition. Onslaught, because You may run (and change the facing) and have possibility to shoot at unshielded facing.

I don't know, If this is still legal, but You may place ESG template anywhere from Your base, so it is possible to target 2 different facings at once.

If any tyrant was grounded You have d3 haywire shots in overwatch and can smash at I5 (either with tyrant or crone).

As for troops I would recommend mucolids. They don't award kill points and S8 large blast against AV12 can take away hull point.

Deepstriking rippers or lictors (maybe even deathleapers assassins) can help with mealstrom objectives. Lictors have S6 rending attacks with I6, providing they survive HoW they can actually strip away some HPs.

Haywire only glances super heavies on a 6, no useful bonus results if I recall. That coupled with only glancing on 6's with the devourers doesn't make that the most brutal counter to that wall of hull points

Haywire glances on 2-5 and pens on 6. Devourers glance on 6, but there are lots of shots and multiple tyrants can omit ion shield rolls.

Gargantuan Creatures are the ones that have protection like that. They're only affected by Poison or Sniper Attacks on 6s.

Yup, you are correct. That would have only made the last game I played against a knight only marginally less stupid. The rules have become muddled with the barbie knights and the imperial knights lately. Both are extremely unpleasant to play against for me the few games I have gotten in against them...
