A funny story you mention I7.
Yesterday, I went vs a Slaanesh Chaos Lord on a bike with a Claw/Fist combo. Pre-game, he rolled the instant death boon. He then won a challenge and rolled the +1I boon. He then proceeded to assault my Dima. Under those very specific circumstances, the Tyrgon would have at least had a chance at killing him back.
I guess if you're taking the Tyrgon prime, you're probably better off with the reaper but the original unit is so bad that it's hard to look at it objectively.
(know I've already said this already but) like your example I had mine fight against a Liberian in T armour and his command squad, in a 2 round combat (both of which the force weapon was active) it killed the whole 5 man command squad in round 1 (one of which had a combat shield or something) and instant the Liberian turn 2, both times before they hit back thx to the reaper this was all thx to the shred, swiftstrike and +1 S rules for just 45points
also a note to gauntlet, the ONLY reason I didn't give him further/ other bio artefacts is he was already a lot of points with the reaper, and I calculated that being the best value for points.
I have yet to try an endless swarm mode with him (tried once, but he didn't arrive on time), for now I find combining the trygon prime with an outflanking Tervigon and a deepstriking toxicrine/ tyrannocyte (or other similar MC) while charging from the front helps the trygon distract the enemy while causing casualties on its own flank.
