Yeah the 360's definitely confirmed that these bugs look absolutely amazing. They definitely took the Nid look to the next level.... which makes these model's rules that much more painful. Proxy time!
So a huge problem is the lack of access to biomorphs. This is mind boggling. I was hoping the White Dwarf was just missing that bit, but the fact that the GW website states that the rules are found in WD #40 sounds to me like these are the complete rules. But like a good little sufferer of Stockholm Syndrome I'll still hope that the boxes have a datasheet in them and mention biomorph access.... Moving on...
So the Toxcrine is actually decent, fortunately he's not too expensive so you can still have enough threat saturation he either gets focused down (and he'll take decent firepower to kill) so other things can get into range or he sneaks up and starts shredding. His #1 problem is the lack of access to adrenal glands; and that is a massive oversight. He could have been a solid answer to Wraithknights but no amount of "finesse" is going to help you catch a non-idiot Eldar player's Wraithknight. His #2 problem is WS3. That's 3 hits folks, that really limits the kind of targets he's going to go after otherwise he's begging to get tarpitted.
The only thing the Maleceptor has is she's roughly Tervigon cost, but occupies that 1 empty Elite slot I usually have available (leftover from 2x malanthropes or venomthropes), and doesn't have a 30 gant tax. She also generates an extra warp dice, but sadly the extra power she has over Tervy is useless as all get out. Seriously. You will NEVER waste the dice needed to cast Psychic Overload if you have things like The Horror, Catalyst, Paroxysm to cast. I've test rolled that power so many times.... wow it's bad.
But was anyone begging for a 200 point warp dice battery and synapse bubble?? And if I did want one, I'm still more likely to get my 30 gant block and take a Tervigon so at least I have ObSec units and extra speed bump spawns out of the deal. I obviously need more games with them (proxied my convertible Exocrine / Haruspex once for each) but I don't think I need any more testing to know the Maleceptor is a dud. If I get more than 1 kit I'll proxy the Maleceptor as an Exocrine maybe, or as someone else mentioned, kit it out as a Hierodule. As far as the toxicrine, were we having trouble killing things with a T value? It just doesn't fill a niche, and the one niche it could have filled - Wraithknight hunting - it's too slow to perform.
