You already have 15 stealers, so you only pay 60 (usually 74 for TS/st) to nestle a broodlord toward the centre/rear of the unit.
Second, which seems harder to kill? 15 Genestealers with a Broodlord or 1 Flying Hive Tyrant?
Against normal TAC marines:
63 Bolter shots to kill a Genestealer and a Broodlord
432 Bolter shots to kill a flying Hive Tyrant.
But you might say, A flyrant is more vulnerable to higher strenght weapons.
32.4 Plasmagun shots to kill a Genestealer and a Broodlord
72 Plasmagun shots to kill a flying Hive Tyrant if he Jinks.
But my main reason for not doing that, is that the Genestealers become trapped in the middle of my opponent's army. They don't have the mobility to escape, and eventually they are going to be outside of combat on my opponent's turn, or my opponent could just charge in their beatstick character and challenge out the broodlord. I haven't tried it since I've been running Malanthropes, but the Malanthrope can't eat a challenge. His rule is that he can issue challenges, but doesn't include anything about accepting challenges. Even something as basic as a Nob can ruin the broodlord's day. A flyrant is a better bet for your warlord.
The Red Terror is better, because the rest of his unit is more survivable, he is faster, and generally more survivable. If his unit gets dropped in size he can make a run for terrain / out of LOS. Also, the additional speed allows him to stay on a flank of the enemy army, and a little safer from beatstick HQ's and dreadnoughts. It still isn't a very good choice compared to a Flyrant.
If I was going to try to hide my warlord in a broodlord, I would put him with a min squad of Genestealers and outflank/reserve him, hoping to keep him off the table for as long as possible. The turn he comes in, I run for ruins, and GTG if anything shoots at him. I don't think it is the best strategy because if you turned that 130 points into something more useful like 21 gargoyles, you can play a bit more aggressively.
