Is the Dimachaeron going to be an Apocalypse only model?

It's not jumping anything at all with a 6" move. I move the minimum 12" often with my crones and harpies, it works fine. Jump MC would have gone a long way towards making this a good unit instead of a unit we wished was good.
That, and grenades lol.

Yeah this is a problem with oval bases. When your base is 4-6" long and you roll a 3 or in case of Dima, you just jump there is little room for placement. I find myself having to sacrifice movement lots because of the obsecenly large footprint.
This was brought up when I bought my Trygon, but the Crone has a heck of a time VS stuff because of this too. It constantly messes up line of sight when you float on things with your base.
That being said I do love FW for seemingly tidying up their units. From what I understand still a little too pricey.. (Like I keep saying, elitest horde.) Allso I find it very humourous that Orks and 'umies both spam units for 3 points. Even the lowly gant is an expensive counterpart.
Elite horde, now lead by dual wielding gladiators, and a Synaptic stoner. People question why I like my space bugs. An army of senior citizens who smoke and eat everything. Is there anything not to like?
I hope they steal that plasma thing for regular GW Nids. Really fluffy addition that actual helps!

I can't be bothered to try to find it's leaked stats but I'm sure with it's MC strength, Flesh Hooks would have been a really nice tiny range shooting option that obviously also stopped it's Initiative stat being pointless. Even if they had to make it cost more points I don't think anyone would have minded.
Such glaring design flaws are just baffling sometimes.

As awesome as the Dima is in cc if it gets there, I doubt I'll pick up the model. It just doesn't do enough for it's £85 price tag and to be quite honest, the model is kinda lame/ too busy.
Tis a shame! If only it was 1. Fearless 2. Jump infantry 3. Flesh hooks - (I'd happily pay a little extra points for those add ons too!)
Why should a wraith knight be a jump MC yet this thing isn't.
Siiiiigh!

I'd honestly have preferred it to lose 2 wounds and be the size of a Hive Tyrant myself (with an decrease in points of course)

Siiiiigh! To be fair, the 'Knight pays through the nose to be a JMC and I like the Dima's price tag as it is. Will I get done for posting up the unit description? The Dima doesn't have flesh-hooks because it's designed to be a leader/HQ assassin (specifically Astartes officers) which are generally dashing around the board killing stuff from the front and not lurking in cover as a rubbish example of a spear-tip leader. Gotta hand it to FW, they certainly tie-in their background to the models. Spine Banks would've been a great option, even at something daft like 30pts, but if used as intended it shouldn't be assaulting into cover ideally. But y'know... ideally haha. Not clearing cover isn't really a biggie with a 6" move, MTC eliminates the dangerous terrain penalty and you still get a forest/ruins cover save

Though the Dima doesn't have Flesh Hooks it does have a +1S HoW with Stirkedown (if you use Leaping to Assault). While that's not true assault grenades, it is a poor-man's version. Really poor-man's version lol.

But Strikedown doesn't really do anything....

No it doesn't really help much except for a single model that is in base contact with the Dima. According to Strikedown even if the enemy saves the HoW hit it is treated as if it was in difficult terrain therefore strikes at I1. So a really, really, really poor-man's grenade.
For me the Dima is a unit muncher. The fact that it doesn't have grenades, to me, isn't such a travesty. I sent mine at a unit of 20 Ork Boyz and out of 40 or so attacks only 2 wounds were scored (except for that damn Weirboy!). The Dima, like a lot of our units, are "finesse" units meaning that they really only perform well when they are in the perfect scenario. Flyrants, Crones/Harpies, and other units are much like the Dima in that it's not always easy to get them into that optimum position. I guess that is the nature of Tyranids.

Thats not what Strikedown says. It says you move as if in diff terrain until the end of next turn. I'm not even sure that would cause them to go at init 1 if they charged, but in this case, they didn't charge, so there is definitely no penalty.

Then what the hell is the point of it?

It makes a lot of sense on a shooting attack.....
It could sort of matter on a dima against vehicle. (assuming the vehicle can survive.)
IOW, there is no point...
