This has turned into a pretty decent thread discussion slightly wavering from where I was going with it but a very good discussion none the less.
It's nice to see the agreement of the power of the T'fex, mostly due to the power armies not saturating themselves with AP2 or higher shooting.
Yes, there are problem units out there that you will run into but it appears to be less common.
I think I now understand the codex. Where in other dex's you look for that broken unit or that broken combo perhaps involving psychic powers or some exalted gift/artefact.
That's obviously not the case with the Nid dex and what we actually have is a well rounded book that has simplified the playstyle of Nids.
What I'm finding is the dex leans on durability more than anything else.
Durability can be achieve in two main forms. T6 MC's and max units of little dudes, potentially adding shrouded and/or FNP to the mix.
To put it simply without going into a massive example/explanation, if it takes 5 turns for the enemy to deal with all of your threats.
If you have prioritised killing major threats for example killing ap2 shooting to keep your T'fex's alive longer, taking out anything that can contest your objectives.
Along with that if you have the ability to contest their objectives (your Flyrants are still alive) and score your own (Your Tervigon hasn't been touched because you created lots of other stuff that had to be dealt with) then the game could be won through durability (its taken 5 turns to kill your other stuff) and concentrating on killing the problem units.
This is my current thought process going into games at the moment and I thought I'd share it with you.
With this though there is a definite need to understand the enemy and what you should be dealing with to make this happen.
I actually find that is quite true.. Our monsters just take alot of fire before they fall and despite the fact that there not very good eg (riptide) we can still survive for many turns.. I am ussually on my last 2 monsters by turn 5-6 but i i do run 9 MCs at 1750pt
