Need help in creating a scenario.

Going to finally start gaming. Me and my son will try and do a campaign. Thing is, I am not sure how to start it.

I was thinking of something like in a jungle, or even a city. Maybe a Lictor or a few 'Stealers are stalking the prey/citizens.
A small team of SM (don't have any IG) on patrol by fluke find them and try to hunt them down.

I was thinking of buying Kill Team and use those rules for the beginning. Start of small and get bigger each game.

We will be using LotR rules. I go, you go, I shoot, you shoot, then we all assault. Will use priority just like in LotR. Was even
thinking we all move at the same time, in order of Initiative. Same thing for shooting, so this way Initiative, actually means
something now.

Going to try and play with painted minis, so this will be a big project for me and my son.

I want to try and make it narrative. I did do this a few years ago with Dark Angles. Can't find the post now. Took pics, and
had a blast with it. Want to do something again. Now with all these new rules, and supplements, I want to start slowly and
make it epic in the end, with a log, (or is it a blog? don't know the internet lingo) and share it with you guys and gals, if
you like.

So, how should I start it? As I said, it will be modified Kill Team LotR rules. How should I start off the narration? Should it
be a Lictor in the jungle, or some stealers in the city? Maybe a Lictor stalking the city?

I always wanted to try and do Dark Angles, Knights of Calaban hunting they monsters in the forest, but using Tyranids
for it. Looks like I can finally do that as well.

So since this is a rebirth for me, sort of to speak, we got a lot of painting to do.

I have Tyranids and Dark Angles for myself.
Necrons for my son.
Orks for my wife.
Was going to do a Chaos SM army, but haven't started it yet, but they are waiting to be put together and be painted.

If I need to get the Inquition codex, I will buy it at a later time. I will buy what ever I need at a later time, but want to
start preparing now.

So what do you think I should buy in the future? What should I be get ready for.

What should I use to start my invasion of Hive Fleet Incubus (think I will use this name).

As far as a fluff background could easily be worked into a narrative of an ork purge by space marines and a space marine commander or something goes missing. Gradually the orks notice a similar trend. Long story short during a blood-bath both sides find themselves dealing with a tyranid invasion.

The hardest thing about Crons is mixing them with Nids for a solid Scenario. You both could start out using a different army and through those armies introduce your primary force.

Have your son play the Orks and you run your Dark Angels. You could have the Dark Angels running a small strike force to rid a planet of xenos filth. Depending on who looses the first game gets to introduce their primary army.

Dark Angels defeat the remaining orks who took shelter in a mysterious cavern. The DA kill the Warboss, but suddenly they realize they are in a Necron tomb.

Necrons awaken and battle the DA. Make it a mission with insane difficulty for the DA. Being that it is narrative, add in a cool final stand story or something. Then as the Necrons kill the DA they are ambushed by Lictors.

Now the Necrons must battle the Tyranid invasion while going tomb to tomb to awaken the rest of the Tomb planet to kill the Tyranids.

Something like that could work well perhaps? For Orks just reverse the scenario, if Orks won game 1, then have them be ambushed by Lictors and then Necrons arise, etc.

Ok how about a scenario in which IG forces fleeing destruction from the swarm enter a deep underground base. They are keeping tabs on the surface and have supplies and stuff ..... but then an alarm goes off its a breach in a supply vault ... somthing has got in . Can the humans hunt down/ hold out until they have loaded passengers and supplies into secret escape ship ......

Another option davor, is to have an "AI/NPC turn". Could be Orks V marines and the necrons crop up. But as far as the NPC thing, have vangard tyranid units operate under specific instinctive behavior rules and enter randomly via deepstrike. EX. after turn 1 of a game(for both players), roll on tyranid army reserves and place deepstrike marker on terrain(ignore deepstrike mishaps) then scatter. Have tyranid unit on table roll on a table of something like 1-2: lurking, 3-4: move/shoot/charge at further enemy, 5-6: unit goes after closest enemy(same actions as 3-4). This would facilitate a plot of "necrons awake during ork v marines conflict" while still allowing some tyranid action.

We have all read in the tyranid background how they send waves of termagants and gaunts at defenders to wear them down .
Maybe play a game in which marines have to hold off such a wave assult. Tyranids only have termagants and gaunts and the marines set up in defense covering objectives (bunkers, ruins , defense line) tyranids units are without number , and synapse covers tyranid deployment area and extends every turn by 6 inches creating a wave effect. The objective is to hold vital locations while the nids have to capture them or drive off marines. To mix it up have ammo rolls after a certain turn , but have a ammo dump so marines can rearm reload . To give tyranids some bite allow them to get limited number of mc's but nothing too powerful , its a game of squad management for the marines - do i move this unit to rearm or do i hold postion - can i reinforce that objective - . Just a thought but it could work well as it shows the strength of both...... marines tough as and the tyranids have the numbers
