Christmas Present (Pic heavy)

Just dropping by with some pics of a little something I made for my girlfriend. She asked me if I could paint 'one of those little plastic soldiers' for her, cause she wants one she can display
So, I spent about 4 hours (including time waiting for the paint to dry ) up until now, and I think it turned out pretty good.
I'm especially happy with the decoration on the tabard, since this is actually just a basic Space Marine. Definately put some more effort into this than I normally would a regular Marine^^

PS: The writing on the base says "Haraio, Guardian of Zuraidah". Now, guess who Zuraidah is ;D

Looking nice. I'm not a big fan of the Templars' colour scheme, but you've done a good job with it.

Yeah, the Templars' colour scheme is very simple, but I like it, cause it allows me to spend more time on the details, which is the part I like the best^^
Like painting all the small triangles on the tabard. Took me almost 45 minutes

As I read colour scheme statement, I choke on my tea and say...WHAT!!!!! .. take it back you heritics, I'm so insulted...lol

Seriously yeah pretty simple, but can be very stunning. Just have to pull the old finger out.

I like the pose and the paint scheme very much, (but dare I say it giving the topic why you painted it so no offence), a little thick in places, but good job

@ hariao: the model would look 10 times as nice if you would use some ink and then highlight it a bit. Personally I think those bland colours dont bring out the best of the model. The tabbard for example is just red. If you would apply some red ink wash, and then highlight it with blood red, and maybe a final highlight bloodred/blazing orange or something in that direction the model will look 10 times better. Same goes for other colours (bleached bone could do with a brown ink wash and then highlighting of bleached bone to skull white finish) etc etc etc.
I remember you posting some pics of some nids of yours a little while back, which the abovementioned would also apply to. Just some ink and some simple highlights would do wonders.

No offense though I dont bother with many highlights either...just some basic stuff...i dont want to spend loads of time on a few models...just what u prefer.
