Hi people^^

Just tried painting the scheme of the Guard army I may or may not start in the future (far, far future), and here is how it turned out. The colour scheme is based on real-world miners (thanks Yoritomo), with steel armour and some dirt brushed on. I don't know if you guys can even see the dirt because of the suckish lighting, but I'm considering dirtying them more heavily^^





Note the single red shoulder pad, my way of showing the rank of Sargeant^^

NOTE: I didn't do any modelling or anything on this one, as at the moment I'm just testing the paint scheme^^

I just think you need to thin down those paints... spread it out after watering it down and you should get less blobbed thick paint so that your models come out more clean. the paint scheme however could work really well but I'd like to see it on more models

Yeah I know, I guess I don't thin it down enough
I will try to get more of them painted, but it took me about two hours to paint this one

Whew!...THICK paint....one reason I don't think I want to EVER paint an IG army is I'd have to paint all those faces....Though you did not do that bad...I'd try not to have the "clown eyes" look to them...

I really thing you've got to change the paint scheme some thing just look wrong :S

I think the contrast between dark blue and orange is good, It might be slightly better with red rather than orange, but that's really just a personal thing

Well, it's actually Blood Red And the blue is Ultramarines Blue ^.^
And yes, I know the paint is thick. I still haven't quite grasped the watering down part yet

And yes, the eyes are suckish

I'm doing cadians for the point club this month you should check out how I did them. They're almost done too.... Yeah I know it took me way to long but other commitments seem to keep prevailing.....ehem....WoW.

It's alright. I don't really like the metal color for the armor. I think it's too bright and contrasts with the model.

Try this; paint all the metal parts of your model black. Then dip your brush in the metal color and wipe as much of it off as you can on a paper towel. Now, using your dry brush go over all the black bits that are suppose to be metal. You should see some of the paint that didn't come out of your brush on the black paint. This technique is called drybrushing (I wonder why).

This will give you a more subdued metal color, which I think you want for your army.

P.S. Don't use a good brush for drybrushing as it tends to ruin brushes. Try and use one of your old ones that you wouldn't mind throwing away.

P.P.S. Sorry if you already know how to drybrush. I just wanted to explain if you didn't.

lol, I know what drybrushing is^^ That is what I used to get the dirtied look on the pants. But I hear what you say, and I will do that when I get the time^^ Right now, I have so many tests that they are actually coming out my behind
