Transport damage

When I unpacked my nids from the last tourney I discovered some transport damage again. The usual suspects: Tips of the Raveners' top scything talons, the Lictor's rending claws and the Biovore's tail spikes. On the Raveners this is the second time, I have to dou touch up work.

I'm really unhappy about this, as I put a lot of effort in painting my models. Transport damage like this usually only happens to metal-minis.

What to do about it?

And can someone recommend a good matte varnish that can be applied with a brush? For obvious reasons I don't want to respray the whole model after touching up the damage...

Vallejo offers a decent matte varnish and I've heard good things about the Testors equivalent.

do you spray the model? and do you varnish them?

spray gives a stronger undercoat

matte varnish makes a matte finish with a good protection

gloss varnish gives the strongest protective coat. i reccoment using gloss,and matte it down afterwards if you prefer matte

How do you Matte Down Gloss? Sand paper?
