New Hive Fleet

Well guess I should start with a Hello!

This is my first post but I have been a long time reader of these boards. I recently started playing 40k again and decided to start up a Tyranid force that I will eventually be building toward Apocalypse sized games with.

Needless to say this is a rather big task for see as I haven't modeled or gamed in about 2 years so I am hoping you guys can keep me encouraged and I am going to try to keep you all updated on the status of my army and how the fleet is coming.

I just got in all my stuff so took a couple of pics so you can see the before and will keep the pics coming as I clean / model and paint the fleet up. It may be slow going due to my 5 on 2 days off working 14 hour day schedule. But here is to hoping right... /cross fingers.





I get a little sad when I look at the amount of time sitting on that table...

All in all it ends up being :

2 Hive Tyrants
6 Fexes
4 Zoaies
4 Body Guard
48 Genestealers
136 Gaunts (68 Hormies and 34 Spinefist and 34 Flesh)
3 Rav's
6 Warriors

Thinking about picking up 3 more warriors and 2 more Rav's?

Guess I should stop typing and start working... oh and by the way I will be slowly working of some background fluff and eventually settle on a name for my Hive Fleet. Was thinking about Hive Fleet Chimera but not sure if this has been done before or is a real fleet already. Gonna have to do a bit more googling. Thanks in advance and looking forward to being a member of these great boards!

Nice...That looks like my Space marine collection right now....boxes piled too high to reach...I should post a pic of all my Tyranid stuff in boxes...hmmph . Good luck with that....and be sure not to burn yourself out....take breaks...I've taken a break from Tyranids to pursue Space Marines...But one day...Hive Fleet Kraken will return with a vengance...heh...*right*.

Thanks for the welcome and if you read the part about the 5 day a week 14 hour days = gaming budget plan.. Sadly no time for modeling or painting. Gotta work on that hehe

Maybe think about doing a Trygon with 2-3 units of 6 Raveners. There are some awesome rules on this in the Apoc book. Look it up. Thats I plan to do when I get myself going and work out a Paint Scheme I like.

heh...
i used to work five 12 hour days before i had kids... but i played Magic then.

now i've got a wife and 2 kids...

well... just like has already been said:
take breaks from time to time.
switch it up to keep it interesting.
if i were you, i'd start on the Gaunts... and keep your cool stuff (like the Tyrant and Carnifex) as treats when you've been burnt out after your 100th Gaunt.

Hehehe I got the wife part down but no kids just yet...

I think all together it ran me about 700$ I got the hook up with a 35% discount on everything so that helped alot.

Yeah not going to burn myself out on nidz just gonna put together and paint about 2k worth to start then gonna bust open my Battle Company and Linebreaker box and get that going.

and second you must have a great job because to blow that much in one go is quiete astonishing also good luck writing up a army list you could get a reallyyyyyyyyy big headache
