Yep...I think I admitted that a long time ago
edit: I did not "create" the scheme...I merely added my own flair to it.

This painting scheme is amazing the way you did it
the red with black carapace looks good. the skin and bone look good too. aw heck, the hole model looks amazing! I will use the guide for the skin but the carapace will be a different color
of course it will take a while so I wont post pics any time soon, but this looks fantastic! I'm so jealous!

How did you hold the individual pieces while painting them, wouldn't this smudge it if held by hand? (Vallejo model tends to do this)
I'm used to putting the whole thing together and painting... although it's a big pain in the ass and I haven't found an effective way to do otherwise.

I've never had a problem with holding individual pieces....and my Vallejo paints DON'T smudge at all. Always hold the model on the opposite side that you are working from....for example if you are working on the front torso....hold by the tail or a leg....working on an arm...hold by the talon or the gun and vice versa.

Thanks but....wow that would be a pain. I don't think I'm good enough to be on the Eavy Metal team anyway...plus painting and modeling is their job...they have time lines and quotas to fill. When your hobby becomes your job....I think it starts to not be as fun. krakenfiend PS...try not to Necro

I'm okay, painting wise.
I've won a couple of conflict awards for it and a larger number of more localised events, but what I gain in painting I lose in having the haphazard photography skills of an eyeless man with a SlinkyTM for a spinal column.
Modesty seems to be another of your virtues, as far as painters on this forum go (and for what little air my opinions displace) I would rate you second only to Gareth. The members cited in your list may have cleaner, neater Tyranids than you; but Gareth's Ultramarines are really the only models I've seen on here that would deem better than your Chaplin. Hand on heart.

why doesnt any1 make the model 1st and then paint? is it better the other way? painting then building?
also question it says that venom cannon is glancing only on non-open topped vehicles does that mean it only glances on vehicles - no humans?
(that is wat a sniperfex has right?)

Because it allows you to easily reach all noks and crannies. It also speeds up the painting process, as you're not spending ages trying to get your brush in the right spot.

Hi, great post! I was wondering: since I only have GW paints, what are the GW equivalents for the Vallejo paints you used? I am specifically interested in the skin tones since that seems to be the trickiest part in getting a natural blend. Thanks
