Soul Storm wheres the TYRANIDS!!

I am a fan of Dawn of War but they have gone to far. I have been waitting for so long for them. So I demand that they put them in the next game or I will personaly attack Games Workshop with a Stick.

Yeah, I'd like a Dawn of War game with Tyranids too, but yeah they say it would be hard what with how epic tyranids are. I'm glad they did Dark Eldar and Sisters though, because those are like my top next favorites.

I don't know, it seems like programming Nid's would be a pain. Each one has 4 arms, each arm can be reconfigured in to different things...I can see why there waiting. It would be uber sweet, though.

I'd rather have the tyranids done right, so I'm willing to wait. That will likely require a different addition, hopefully with some BFG tossed in for extra strategy

attack GW with a stick all you want - they are not in charge of Dawn of War -
It has always been said that nids were not going to be in the Dawn of War game - mostly I think because nids are a swarming army (fluff wise) and dawn of war was more of a squade based combat game. Thus nids would have either had huge squades - which then might have had pathfinding difficulties and problems fitting on the maps - or we would have been like nidzilla and had all the other races complain about us.
However there is a very strong chance that Dawn of War 2 is now activly in development and that nids will be in the box!

ive heard dawn of war 2 will be more squad oriented and gaining experience from each battle and individuality and whatnot. its scaring me. im feeling that necrons will be cut out of DoW2 and Nids will once again be ignored. theyre just too different from all the other GW races. for the record im furious that the female space marines got put in in front of Nids. like that was the point of that why not just give marines sisters of battle as an elite unit like they did grey knights. so annoying.

There has been hints that the Tyranids are in DOW2.

1. The DOW engine they said was not good enough to show off the Tyranids: look at DOW2's engine, it can show them off.

2. They said that the Tyranids will never be brought up in an expansion as they are to cool for that. DOW2 is not an expansion.

There is an unofficial mod out there that allows to play Tyranids in Dark Crusade.
I tried it out. They work, though not all of the units have the correct models (have placeholders), sounds, and animations.

Anyway, I think the reasons they aren't putting Tyranids into DOW, besides the game engine, is the following:

• They don't work the way other factions do, in the game. Having no ground structures of significant strategic value, and instead dropping from the sky (fluff-wise), just "creating" structures with a function to fit Tyranids into the game doesn't seem right.
  
• Room. Playing the mod I realized there is now way you will ever have enough physical space on the map to field all that stuff. The Sisters already have trouble climbing a stairway in a squad of five, I don't want to imagine 4 broods of 12 Hormagaunts trying to do the same.
  

Don't get me wrong. I'm one of those who would like to see Tyranids in DOW and I love the mod. But Relic does have a point.

yeah. I admit it would be very difficult to put nids in. But hey, give it a try.
Plus LOADS of troops pouring over the map would be amazing.
