I been loving the CP control we can have with the new tyrant changes.
Is having a +1CP once per battle round /// better than -2 CP all players turn.
I been using the Swarmlord defensively in Vanguard. He can work well in clean up. I have not been using T-Guard. It been working ok. Being able to leave combat with him and charge elsewhere been fun. His 12 inch no stratagem for you is very nice. In later rounds it can be game changing in stopping combos. This new ability can be very impactful.
Downside is he doesn't use any of the stratagems in Vanguard. I do have to hide him behind terrain a lot as he is a prime target to kill. A lot of the time in vanguard he ends up out of position for him to help out.
VS
Vanguard is one place the Flyrant really shines. I think most people would agree. He has gotten many pluses with the new rules.
The Flyrant can use all the stratagems. Going to Str 10 Has given him a big boost in damage and range (13-18inches + charge. His -1 to attack ability allows him to help in a different combat besides his own. Which is nice not great.
He also can use the defensive enhancement to buff -1 to hit and +1 cover. (Not sure how much this adds to his survivability.)
His His speed and deepstrike ability allows him to relocate easily.
I like him but he is more fragile..ish
I think the Swarmlord is easier to play as you play very reserved with him. His CP of +1 makes it easy to use as you don't have to be with in 12 inches to use it like the FLyrant. He has a small amount of shooting.
The Flyrant on the other hand gives 2 Cp really per turn, plus any you can get from the lictors. Which seams better.., but I have found the Flyrant harder to use as he is so mobile that you want to attack more with him.
The downside with both of these unit is they cost a lot. 225 for the Flyrant to 240 for the Swarmlord.
I been seeing list with both. but I don't know if that is needed.
Your thoughts on these two unit. One or the other?.... or both?
PS If both do you need as many lictors as you can't gain more CP?
Is it worth it to take or drop Say zoans out of the Vanguard list?
