Just to clarify really; does the new ruling about models disembarking transports mean that we can no longer charge after dropping from a tyrannoctye now?

Sounds pretty clear to me how it was intended to work (just like any other DS unit in the game...)

Has anyone played it as not being able to charge?
Not that a 9" charge for nids are something to be relied on.

Yes, like everyone. The very next page talk about what a unit can do after disembarking. Since they disembark immediately when the t-cyte hits the table they are dismounting from a transport that did not remain stationary and as such are not eligible to declare a charge. I'm not sure what you are referring to.

I've just been watching battle reports - but maybe I'm misremembering how they've played with them?

Very possible. I've started being very picky about which channels I follow because of various misplays and numerous house rules.
More serious channels have either live chats which inform players on the spot about missing on some rules OR they have a 3rd person behind the camera to serve as quick reference guy to look up the rules while they play.
