So I played vs Guard, GSC & Dark Angels
Every game, the same tactic was, both pyrovores on home objective, parasite close tp them to make the regen at 9" not 6", the unit of 2 rippers to screen and also regen . The 20 gant unit was there just to further screen my dep zone and deny DTH/BEL etc.
I tended to deploy a Haruspex on each flank and the Norn to 1 flank. The Norn would move onto the flank objective, stay out of LOS then use him to counter whatever was going on middle objective. while the haru would stay there till i saw it was safe from deep strikes to Tyrannoform it and move the Haru up to reinforce, generally after oppos R3. The above never really changed.
G1 and G2 had Crucible of Battle, G3 was Hammer & Anvil using UKTC Terrain.
Game 1 - Guard
Opponent started 1st. Had 3 Medusa, 3 Earthshakers, Dorn, 2 Hell Hounds, command squad, Leontus, 3 scout sentinels.
He started, moved sentinels, did their thing, targeted TGuard and Haruspex, killed the Haru, regened the Tguard. Tguard moved up, tagged the Dorn and Hellhound.
In R2 Trygon was great distraction, as it was put in a place were he cudnt see it with everything and so had to "waste" his indirect on it.
In R3 2 units 1 ripper scored BEL and DTH and SITW did its thing.
Killed a total of 5 scout sentinels throughout the game, some deep striking units,a unit of troops, 2 hell hounds, stopped whatever tried to come onto centre objective, blocked 1 obj with the Tguard and the other he never attempted to take so it was tyrannoformed.
Game 2 - GSC
game was Purge the foe.
This was vs the guy going up to the World Champonships, so no joke. Won by 1 pt. 84-85.
Had 3 big blobs of neophytes with primus and banner, 2 units of democharge guys, 1 5 man, 1 10 man, 2 ridge runners seperate, 1 large blob of aberrants with biophagus, kelermorph, demo lady,and other stuff.
He started, nothing eventful, cleansed with ridgerunners.
I moved to block 3" DS all over my dep zone and moved swarmlord and psychophage behind a ruin .9" away from the wall as i knew it was a faceoff of who would go on centre 1st between aberrants and me. Norn went on side objective with haru. Tguard acted as a counter for when he charges my psychophage and SL. Other flank i made a huge mistake, Put 1 warrior out in open to try block 3" DS in my dep zone while the other haru ran onto objectiive.
R2 he got BEL, dropped a unit of demo charges and kelermorph, warriors got wiped, my bad. Dropped a neo squad with sustained, rr hits, the works plus ignore cover and an additonal -1 on haru. Haru with 4+++ was left with 1 wound left. ABerrants came out and charged psychophage as there was no way hed get SL way i positioned, killed Psycho. Once done i Rapid ingressd my trygon in his dep zone 12.1" away from the mine lady, just scratching his home objective taking it away from him. That gave him a headache.
My r2 i countered, healed haru back to 4w, shot off the unit of demo charges and kelermorph, brought out the Norn, swarmlord and the unit of Tguard, didnt pop SitW yet as he still had 3 units in DS and i still controlled objectives, so i was fine... Killed the unit of aberrants, they did come back but were too far away so their game essentially ended. I was ourscoring and i killed more so i got loads of primary and got all my secondary. Trygon didnt move to trigger mines and did DTH.
His R3 he dropped the rest tried to contest the objective the norn was on as there was only a haruspex with oc 4 by dropping the 10 man demo charges guys and also dropped another unit of neos on that flank to try get norn and tguard, removed the unit that brought the other haru to 1w and dropped another instead.
Managed to get the norn down to 5w and half tyrant guard gone, killed the haru on 4 wounds and had a ridgerunner on the other flanks objective.
My R3, popped shadow, BS'D the ridgerunner and the demo charges guys contesting my other haru. so i maxed objectives again. My termagants moved in support of haru for OC, swarmlord and tguard finished off the 10man unit of democharges regend the tguard after the killed a unit. Trygon shot at mine lady and she died. Rippers 1 dropped on centre to die and get +1 to wound, the other dropped in his dep zone to block blips. Again, maxed primaries, killed more and maxed my secondaries.
His R4, killed the norn, killed swarmy, took objective with no longer BS'd ridgerunner killed trygon, left unit of tguard with 1 tguard left and neuro.
MY r4, I regened tguard for 1 more did cleanse. and tyrannoformed my home objective as i knew hed try steal it at the end so just wanted to reinforce as i could and placed pyros, unit of 2 rippers and parasite in a way he coudnt base me and take it.
His r5 ds'd a unit 3" away on centre objective, taking it from me, had the other with rudge runner and his own, dropped another unit 9" away from my own objective, but my trygon had killed 2 neos in this unit, so they dropped and regened 2 guys with banner giving him a 6" charge as per uktc this is legal. Shot at my other pyro and parasite that were farther away, killed them and charged my 2 rippers and single pyro dealing no dmg, couldnt consolidate on objective. He got kill more. He would now be on 84 because of that because i wasnt gna kill 2 or 3 units in R5, and me on 80 with 2 objectives and him 3 and he killed more.
My R5 i drew storm hostile objective and tempting target.....i spent a cp to redraw tempting target and got engage on all fronts. put haru on his corner, neuro on far corner, he OW'd and left him with 5 wounds, and i got 5pts from it and won by a pointt, clooooose game!
Game 3 - Dark angels Hammer and Anvil with hidden supplies and take and hold
Vanguard Detachment: 2 redemptors, 2 deathwing termies, 1 deathwing knights, blade guard, infiltrators, a character, jump pack assault guys.
1st time put both haruspexes together, psychophage behind them, norn and SL to their right. Warriors behind a ruin on the side of his infiltrated deathwing knights, Tguard on the other flank for other objective. Rest blocked deep strikes which he had alot of as described in the beginning. He moved up and controlled obj on flank of tguard with his jump pack assault guys backed up by redemptor. infiltrated guys aready had the objectie and moved the other unit of deathwing guys and bladeguard to middle. he chose an objective to get +1 to wound on. Ignored that 1. did some wounds to norn, psycho and 1 haru.
My R1 Norn, psycho and haru healed back to full. Tguard moved up tried tried to get the charge on jump pack guys but they moved d6 away and failed it. 2 harus, norn moved onto other centre objective, SL hid behind a ruin .9" away from walls. Warriors stayed hidden.
His R2 brought infiltrated knights out and charged both harus with them and bladeguard, other termies sat on his obj with +1 to wound, his jump pack guys and redemptor moved tp shoot and charge my tguard. Dropped his inceptors on the objective the infiltrators were on, tried to get the psycho, left him on 1 wound. I then Rapid ingressed the trygon behind his jump pack guys and redemptor. Redempytor chose to charge him instead and jump pack guys went for tguard, dealt 2 mortals on charge. Popped 4+++ on 1 haru after he selected him with the infiltrator termies, took 12 w from them and bladeguard and shots from the other redemptor. Then i interrupted and attacked with trygon to bring redemptor down to 5 wounds and giving him -1 to hit., tguard wiped the jump pack guys and regened for a cp.
My R2 moved norn to charge the bladeguard, brought warriors out, shot at the inceptors and charged them, wiped them. T guard charged into redemptor. Dropped the 2 single rippers on each corner of his dep zone as he had infiltrators to block with 12", but they still fit exactly, got BEL. Trygon died from redemptor. Blade guard got wiped and termies in haru got wiped, regened the injured haru twice that round, in command and after killing a unit.
His R3 dropped the DS knights to counter warriors but he couldnt drop on objective as i plced them well, they failed the charge. redemptor and tguard stayed stuck.
My R3 norn and swarmlord charged his unit on +! to wound objective, norn shot at redemptor in combat with T guard, killing it. Tyrannoformed the objective Harus were on and 1 moved for the other redemptor. Warriors shot and charged deep striking knights, leaving 1 left.
His R4 nothing of note.
My R4 tyrannoformed Tguard objective and they moved in support of swarmlord and norn, we called it there and talked out R5.
Swarmlords extra CP is awesome, love warriors ranged, tguard, norn and 2 harus are tanks especially with good regen. Tguard having fight first and +1 to hit is clutch to me, they melch marines and chaff, tough enough to tank most monsters damage till they get support.
Of all the enhancements most important 1 is Biophagic flow on parasite. That (please do not swear) is broken. Also warriors regenning twice per phase means in Game 3 i had a total of 12 warriors by end of game, 1 haruspex had like 24 wounds as he regened back to full health and norn even though he isn't the killiest, great distraction, OC value and when regened becomes a problem.
To answer beforehand, didnt need biovore as for 40pts 2 rippers do essentially same thing and like that i took pyrovres which regen for me and a another unit of 2 rippers that also regen and can block out more than a biovore when u put all 3 together in an area.
Trygon should always Rapid ingress, trygon is amazing, saved my butt so many times.
I do wanna try removing Norn, adding another haru and having 3 units of 3 pyrovores, but i only own 4 sadly atm. Not sure itd be as tough as this though still.
