Assimulation swarm how to make work.

I been wondering on how to make the detachment viable.

What is the minimum number of harvester to make it work?

I was looking at the psycophage. I can see wone to help with save but not sure if two are worth it.

Mid-size bugs seem to profit from this detachment a lot.

How much survivability is really offered buy this detachment. A Norn being healed seem like a good fit as well.

One of the best detachment for the swarmlord. His extra cp help keep the haruspex alive plus with tyrant guard he is a threat.

Thoughts?

2. Psychophage gives out an aura of feel no pains. You can cover your whole army in your deployment with 2, so it depends how much turn 1 protection you want
3. Survivability increase is hard to say. If your opponent can focus fire down your units, you won't see much. However, I'd they leave one model with a single wound, you can regenerate
4. I can see a norn or a swarmlord. I'd recommend a tyrant to get the assault weapon aura.

I'm currently running the assimilation swarm in a local league and am 3 wins 1 draw on 4 games.

Generally my strategy is just shove towards the middle objectives, weather fire power, and wipe the opponent as well as I can. Rippers are there for deep strike for objectives.

Game 1 was vs admech. I went first and was heavily outscoring my opponent by the end of turn 2 or 3 while having crashed his line so we called it

Game 2 was against votann. Won by 1 point when we were called on time. It looked to me that I was going to be able to pull ahead on points as his scoring threats were out of position.

Game 3 was against deathwatch on the mission of supply drops. I took an early lead but it was close when we were called on time. We needed another turn or two to figure out who would win so we called it a draw

Game 4 was against eldar, where my opponent mostly ran 12" guns. I got first turn and had largely outscored him and wiped most of his units by the start of turn 3, so we called it there

How has the Parasite of Mortrex been working for you? I love the model. What enhancement are you running on it? the Aura?

I can see why you like the assault aura on the tyrant for the two zoan units.

Would 6 tyrant guard be better 3 seems like they could be focused down easily.

Would you say the pyrovores need to be in units of 3? Would units of two work?
I have only 3 pyrovores at this time been thinking of running single units for 3 chances of regen.

Parasite is largely there for objective cap and to try to kill some enemy models to spawn rippers for both regen and halving their OC. I'm currently running the aura enhancement on the tyrant as it'll likely be spearheading the charge up the middle.

6 tyrant guard would probably be better but the list has a bunch of threats to deal with (plus I only have 3 tyrant guard). Note I'm running them as crushing claws and I'm not sold on that choice.

I think units of 1 or 2 pyros would be useful. I ran units of 3 as I didn't want a single pyro to die and me to lose model regeneration. I am using the old 60mm base sizes and do have kitbashed or proxied models but the league is relaxed and no one has issues.

If I had to go down to only pyros I had, I would look at upping the tyrant guard.

Another thing about the assimilation swarm lists: there is a ton of torrent. You can really mess up your opponents plans with overwatch or force them to reconsider where their moving their models.

Is there a reason why you didn't pick up a Biovore? I thought one per list would bei a must have. Could you please look at my 1k list? I'm thinking about picking up Venomthropes and a Norn Emissary to replace the Psychophage and the Tyrant Guards.

I didn't pick up a biovore as I primarily play tactical objectives and biovores seem better in fixed objectives in my opinion. Additionally, I didn't want to confuse my opponents about biovores vs pyrovores.

For your list, it seems ok but is very dependent upon melee, so more shooting could be helpful. You might also have issues spreading out to objectives if one or two units die. 1k for nids is rough

If taking Parasitic Biomorphology, you want to take Talons on TG; Improving vs T3, T5, T6, T10, and T11 is immediately more impactful. The extra attack is a nice bonus, but it’s a trap to take it for that. If you want to keep the Claws, run the Aura to make Regenerating TG harder to stop or free Heroic/Fight First.

Thanks for the Feedback. Sadly I didn't use magnets when building the Tyrant Guards so I have to Go with Claws. I tried to improve the unit Count aswell and ended up with this list:

No one playing against Tyranids cares about wysiwyg. Non tyranid players can't tell the difference between wargeer or models. Tyranid players are just happy to see nids on the table 95+% of the time. You occasionally encounter a "that guy" and it just means you don't play against them.

Top end tournaments are the exception but generally of you're not at adepticon or LVO, you're fine to play the models and tell ppl what you're running

Venomthropes should be taken to support lots of infantry (typically swarm lists in 10E), you don’t have anything that works well with them (TG don’t gain stealth since the Neurotyrant gives them MONSTER while attached). I’d drop the Venoms and the 4th ripper to put 90 points elsewhere, or drop another ripper for a 3rd Zoan unit if you have one.

Lost my 5th game against a marine player using the firestorm assault detachment. I think I blundered a bit moving my zoans I forgot that one unit had lone operative. I probably should have given more of a priority to advancing up my haurspex.

Game was 48-50 called on time on turn 3. My opponent had a 30 point turn 3 to win it, getting 15 for primary (controlled two objectives, burned 1), 8 for secure enemy outpost, and 7 for bring it down.

A lot of the game could have changed if a couple of clutch rolls had swung a different way. For example, I overwatched with a psychophage to try to kill his dreadnaught with 1 wound and he made his save to stay alive.

All in all, a very close game against a great opponent. We both would have liked to finish the game as we were not sure who was going to win it if we went to t5.

Okay, so I got rid of the Venomthropes. Would inscreasing the Tyrant Guard Count to 6 be a good idea or would it be to much for 1k Games?

Tough call, 6 would probably be very difficult to kill with regen. However, that’s now 1/4 of your army which doesn’t project threat very far. If Incursion missions are played on the 44x60 table (I think so), then I would just run 3.
