My main goal with this list is to capitalize on neurothropes causing damage to lost battleshock tests. I don't know if this would be viable in a competitive setting, but it seems like it may be a crazy fun list. I know screamer killer is kind of looking bad right now points wise, but I feel like he deserves a spot in here for his ability alone.

I think if you're going to try this in a competitive setting, ditch the screamer and one mawloc, grab another haruspex, biovore, and an exocrine.

Let me know your thoughts. Im still very new to Warhammer 40k even though my account is a couple years old, I've only played a handful of games, so critique and suggestions are always appreciated.

I think your plan for the zoanthrope "spirit leech" ability will have a hard time capitalizing. Firstly, they aren't super fast, with only 5" movement, your opponent would need to be within 11" for the ability to take effect. Yes you can advance, but then you can't shoot unless you have a hive tyrant nearby. Then you have to either take out more than half of his models (or total wounds from a single unit) or you need to activate shadow in the warp. And then the opponent has to fail the battleshock on top of all that. All so that in the end he would suffer 1-3 MWs. From the couple of games that i played, battleshock really only had impact in 1 particular situation, where the opponent failed battleshock and lost control of the objective. Not worth it if you ask me.

Biovores are the way to go for now as far as secondaries are concerned, i always bring 2 in seperate units. Exorcine is great, super cheap and gives you re-rolls on hit rolls of 1.
Cant say much about mawloc as i dont have it, and haruspex is new in my list and died 1st turn (granted he was out in the open).

Exactly
It did take away some high powered shots that would have otherwise gone against acidfexes so it did the job. But i would have like to see it get to melee with those pesky space marines and see what it can do.

Not much sadly. With this sh!tty ap the Haruspex is more of a speed bump than an actual killy monster. That’s why it’s so cheap.

Yeah dang. GW really should make Tyranid more scary when it comes to battleshock/leadership tests. I don't have majority of these models yet so was just theory crafting. I need to work on just playing more honestly so I understand the game and ways to score better.

It might work with neurotyrant and deathleaper combo, essentialy worsening their Ld by 2, which would bring a space marine squad up to an 8, giving him just under 50% success chance. And even then, the whole battleschock mechanic isnt all that much game changing, to really make an impact on the course of the game.

I usually just throw it out at the start of enemies turn 2 or 3 just to mess around a bit (if playing on a chess clock, it takes a minute or 2).
