Still no Shrikes, still no Knight EQ, Have we seen a size comparison? The camera angle seems like it could be misleading. Yeah there’s a pic of it next to a wraithlord. Slightly taller. Dima should be pretty close in height and design. Probably needs a new base to match the Norn Emissary.

So our character has a “bio cape”, our artillery are tomb spiders with turrets, and everything else has its brain exposed. This is a hard pass for me. Just giving my inital impression, which can change as I see more pics from different angles. The new models have a strong tendancy towards the anime-manga and lovecraft, which is not entirely in keeping with the Tyranid architype, but in hindsight I think they were correct to broaden the style, and I like they have injected a new twist. - Norn has overly detailed carapace on top of carapace, chest repeating pattern of details, I think I've got superimposed double vision from looking at an moire pattern. Theme is like they asked AI to blend Hive Tyrant with Kaiju Godzilla and produced an Ent Treeman (imagine it painted brown with bark drybrushing). It's fine, but for me waayy to similar to a Hive Tyrant lacking imagination. I like it better than Swarmlord (which is already good), but it's not a next level surprise. - Deathleaper is next level amazing. Too anime, not very Tyranidy but I love it, knocked it out the ballpark with reimagination. - Neurolictor and Parasite of Motrex, ok, new serpentine forms and mediocre. It might just be my personal arbitrary preference against. - Vores, Psychophage, Neurotyrant are not Tyranid enough, like they are xenos from a different game, but love new body plans anyways. Thankyou for breaking the Tyranid sterotype. - Genestealer and guants, fair updates. No big change. Thankyou for bringing back more nostalgic weaponry. More thoughts - the Norns are disappointing. Too similar to (but better looking than) Hive Tyrant and don't have Barbgaunt style weird totally integrated oversized Transformers-style-but-organic cannons. Not making me say, I'd never have imagined that myself. - the Vores took me totally by surprise and I like them, put they don't look like Tyranids. (WarCraft Zerg envy?) - Deathleaper, it surpasses, amazes, thrills my imagination. A+ EDIT: Everyone give us your first impression. Interesting to see how they change with time?

Think it's a miss that the Vores have the Lovecraft-Aeldari-wraithbone carapace styling which should be reserved as a thematic signature for Psychic Tyranid. I am okay with the spider theme, it fits with the less intelligent lowcaste beastial bug nature of artilery beasts.
Even Tyranid players are going to have a difficult time, telling the difference between Pyrovores and Biovore models, so similar. Thinks to self! FANTASTIC, I can magnatize and swap between them.
EDIT: the Norm Assimilar has 8 limbs, that's not like a Tyranid.
EDIT: I wonder if the scale would be okay, to take off the two useless top arms of the Norn Assimilator and replace them with Twin Linked Barbgaunt shoulder mounted biocannons?
EDIT: I suspect the Norn Emmissary is going to have Twin Linked Warp Blast.
EDIT: It feel like when they re-imagined Deathleaper they hired an anime character artist and he started with an impressionist pencil sketch for personality and mood boards, and then created the model to match the vision. But when they did the Norn, they started with the CAD design of the Hive Tyrant and copy pasted, chimneys, more of them and longer. Copy paste fleshhooks, more limb carapaces, and claws. Not enough? Double up on the copy paste. Then scaled x1.5. Half hour later job done, goes to 3D printer. Immediately signed off and CAD emailed to China factory.

Definitely buying 2 of the Norn Emissary/Assimilator kit so I can build both. Loads of Termagant options is good, idk about the Hormagaunts, they look nice but they're still doing that leaping pose that makes them fall over a lot. Lictors and Neurolictor are crazy but those are probably last on the list as I already own 2 Finecast ones that I did some kitbashing on. Genestealers are very nice, will probably get a box. Bio/Pyrovore are really cool and I dig the spidery look but they're not very distinct from each other, could easily get the 2 mixed up if both are on the table, should at least have different head options, so I'll probably build one from the kit and print some fan made designs of the other.

Norns look a hot mess, terribly disappointing model imo. However, I'm pumped that my Dima conversion will continue to be useable.
Pyrovore and Biovore model is another miss, I liked the old design style and was looking forward to a improved sculpt with similar elements. I like how Nids are bugs but not literal bugs, and these tread to closely to spiders. I'll probably just continue to convert Hive Guard into Vores.
Genestealers and Horms are okay, not exciting enough for me to buy any more.
Termagants getting more weapon options is cool, I'll prob just convert the old sculpt though.
Lictors and Deathleaper are the win of the reveal, great looking improvements over the old sculpt.
Neurolictor is... a thing...
Mostly a swing and a miss, but at least not completely.

I like the new genestealers significantly better than the old ones. New lictors are a pretty good upgrade for the old mould. New hormagaunts look good too of course, but I also like the old ones a bunch. And since I do not have either yet, I might get some... or I might get some old ones for way cheaper. ;P
The neurolictor... I like most of it, even the face tentacles which I am usually not the biggest fan of. But the frontal hole in the headplate does not vibe with me. I am down with huegbrain bugs, Zoans are some of my favourites, but having a hole in the center of the headplate... for what? Is that a hole for the mindbullets to pass through? Idk. If the kit includes a different headplate option where there is no big frontal hole, I am down for the model (assuming the rules are also remotely interesting).
For the new 'vores... Well I already got my 6 converted magnetized ones. Not sure if I get new ones, but if I do, I might just get and convert another box of hiveguard, to make them look the same. Especially if the new ones are 40+ bucks for a single model...
I have conflicting opinions on the new bigge monstere modele. Both versions have things I like and things I do not. It depends on how you can mix and match the kit. And of course, what the model actually does on the field. And the price. I might just get a maleceptor instead.

I was so surprised to see that nids won, I figured they would after the provisional results they put out last week. But initially I was sure that marines would win it.
Overall pleased with the kits though I was hoping for a transport of some kind and maybe the norn emissary to be a bit bigger. The new stealer and gaunt/gant models look very nice but I doubt I'll be getting them as I already have enough. All the other kits I will definitely get some of. I like the Norn emissary/assimilator even though it is somewhat busy.

Yeah I saw that but the angle is wonky and could be misleading. If it's only 20% taller, then it's stuff it's standing on and our hive tyrants are already WL sized, but I'll hold judgement until I see it in better size comparisons.

That's why I prefer aesthetics to stay the same, you can sprinkle them current units and it gives the units more life and character. The genestealers, horms, and terms slot write in. The 'vores do not which is why my first impression is disappointment. It is not in keeping with any of the art or design theory that have followed until now.

Idk if it was mentioned yet, but GW Facebook commented on one post with the Norn models and said 100mm base size for it. Helps for scale and Dima proxy planning.

Genestealers: they'll fit right in if you have some already, so I'll pass as I have enough genestealers already
Termagants: new weapons are interesting. I'll either try to kitbash them or get a box and use it for the special weapons
Hormogaunts: these will fit in but are great new dynamic poses. I'll probably get a set to round out the number I have
Lichtor resculpt: looks good. I may or may not get one
New lichtor: I actually like it. I like the snake body. I think it's a dynamic sculpt where the body is snapping around
Vores: these are interesting. I'm not sure how I feel but I think it's an interesting sculpt with nid elements
Norn: I love this model and how detailed the carapace is. It looks like it has some options between different heads and tentacles
Honestly, it's interesting to me how different animal parts are being incorporated into the nids. Nids are supposed to incorporate different animals characteristics after they absorb the DNA, so it makes sense that the hive fleets would have a diversity of features. The heads look similar to me (with tentacles added in some cases).

I am just so... predictably disappointed with the Norn. As others have said, it's over-designed and borrows too much from hive tyrants, but that's not what rustles my jimmies.
It is an open-faced "f*ck you" to players who purchased one or more Dimachaerons.
Dimas aren't THAT old of a model (2014), and were in popular use recently. Meanwhile, Heirodules are ANCIENT sculpts at this point, and have NEVER seen common usage.
I was confused when Dimas got the boot to legends while Heiros somehow stuck around. Now I understand. Norns are basically the same size, and are exactly the same battlefield role. The assimilator even has lower-limb harpoons, similar to the Dimas lower-limb tentacles.
Compare the following quotes:
"The Dimachaeron appears to have evolved for a single purpose: to slaughter those identified among their prey as leaders in the midst of battle, spreading terror and dismay among the ranks of all who resist the Hive Mind's advance."
-Lexicanum, Dimachaeron entry
"The Norn Emissary is perhaps the ultimate synapse creature, bigger and nastier than even a Hive Tyrant. They are evolved for the singular purpose of preying on gifted commanders or abducting knowledgeable prey from heavily defended strongholds."
-Warhammer community page
I dunno man, I mean I understand that models have their sunsets, but this seems like a very particularly mean-spirited release to me.
