After reading through Leviathan, holy cow this is the best lore we've gotten since the Fall of Shadowbrink! 2 tendrils, one from above, one from below, smothering everything in the Shadow in the Warp. Getting danger close to Terra. Those Arbites showing up in typical Arbites fashion looking for their missing tithe only to get eaten by the Nids that already overran the system. The fact they went more into depth with the response to the Tyranid invasion than just "they bolstered their defense with great tactical acumen" and actually laid out a detailed plan, the Solblades were an interesting idea, I loved how they were effective up until, "Solblades beginning to take the upper hand in this tag team match, BUT WAIT HERE COMES A THIRD TENDRIL OF LEVIATHAN WITH A STEEL CHAIR!" . Votann doing their thing was a nice little detail, mentions of some lesser races putting up a fight against this new massive threat but still losing territory to the swarm. That one Imperial world thay behaved in a stupid yet entirely human manner and started infighting into full-on civil war over whether or not the Tyranid invasion was even real all the way up to the point of the bugs LANDING ON THE PLANET. Wacky brain Hive ships melting the Navy crews' minds. The introduction of the Norn Emissaries (considering how prevalent they are I hope this is a new big monster model waiting to get dropped with our Codex), a bunch of Custodians getting shredded by one of said Norn Emissaries with the Captain General just barely being able to stop it from assassinating the Lord Solar (I was admittedly cheering for it to smush Leontus into pudding but GW isn't gonna kill off their major characters like that, especially when he has a cool model that's a nice army centerpiece if you're an Imp Guard player). Looking like things are beginning to turn in favor of the defenders of Sanctum only for THE BIGGEST HIVE SHIP EVER, to come looming out of the void and end the story on a cliffhanger. OMINOUS. They made the Tyranids scary again while still letting some major characters shine, this is a proper war story of desperation. Also the Orks taking advantage of the situation (the radiation-mutated Waaaaagh! led by the Monsta-Boss is crazy). That one system that was marked off-limits for millennia but no one knew why, then the Tyranids showed up and the wildlife actually put up a fight against them, then Necrons and Dark Eldar start popping up and it's a huge 4-way fight, and "oooh THAT'S why the system is off-limits". Not to mention the extra layer of mystery we now get over what the Hive Mind's actually goals are since one planet got covered in a fleshy membrane holding all the life forms in suspended animation and the Tyranids also started building something on an already dead, lifeless planet. THIS IS SOME GOOD LORE.
