Anyone know when points drop? At this point any list building or trying to figure out what's good is pointless. It all comes down to points. Some things will be stupidly cheap, some will turn a decent unit into complete garbage. Our big 'nids look good, but as usual it always comes down to points.
Here's some of my predictions:
- most of our big bugs will be far overpriced
- Hive Tyrants will be too expensive
- hive guard will either be game changingly cheap for what they do or prohibitively expensive: they have never been simply a good option in the 20 years I have been playing, they are either auto include or not even a consideration
- some unit that you haven't really considered before will suddenly be so cheap that it will become auto include: top candidates for me: biovores, t-cytes, and trygons. They all play shennanigans with movement or restricting movement. I'm predicting one of these units will be auto include.
- screamer killer, big brain thing, and the "kraken" will be WAY too expensive. Cool new 'nid models are always too expensive to actually play in the edition where they release.
- we will have 1 really great infantry choice and one fairly decent.
- Warriors are bad.
- Raveners will be cheaper than warriors AND they are better.
- Tervigon will be undercosted.
- with the way the new synapse works our sit back units will be too expensive: our play style will have to be a rush forward for table control, retrict your opponents movement to get favorable matchups, and outscore them. Gunlines will be too expensive win an artillery exchange, our CQC units will not punch hard enough to stand toe to toe with their heavy hitters. Our best play will be to force them in bad situations where they cannot react quickly enough to outscore us. We have always been a counterstrike army (with the exception of 8th edition genestealer/SL combo where you could turn 1 charge your opponent across the table).
