Average Damage of All Index Units

Below I've made some tables with average damage for our index units.

I don't understand.
Carnifex vs Rhino, with two Deathspitters.
A12 hitting on 4+ = 6 hits
6 hits, wounding on 5+ = 2 wounds
2 wounds, AP-2 vs Sv3+ = 0.67 Wounds

4 Claw attacks = 0.2 wounds.

Why does the table say 5.7 Damage?

0.67 Wounds matches the low down table, Death Spitter row, just something screwy about that top row, which is all green.

Because that's the far more relevant and an actual load out with deathspitters, crushing claws.

The top row is Crushing Claws + Deathspitters. The claws deal 5 damage to a rhino and the deathspitters deal 0.7, so the total is 5.7.

Now that points have been released I've extended the spreadsheets with points.

The numbers in the images mean points spent per point killed, which is the same as average number of turns of attacking to "get your points back". Tldr green is good, red is bad.

Looking for green rows, we see that Barbgaunts, Pyrovores, Raveners, melee Warriors, Haruspexes and OOE are all great.

I’d say Exo is also looking good. Its’ ability is also nice if you want to really focus on something.

Hmm, seems like the best units in terms of points killed by points spent are the spore mines... time to make an all spore mine army, what could possibly go wrong?!

With the Mucloid Spore looking good, may we see,
Sporocyst firing 4 times in opponent movement, and firing one Mucloid in it's own turn?

No, it's both shooting with that weapon (rather than just general selected to shoot) and also it's Shooting phase only.

I am getting some different numbers from what you have displayed here using your spreadsheet (which is amazing, btw!)

Forgeworld points have Shadow-dropped.

Both Hierodules - 305
Harridan - 655
Hierophant - 810

No rules yet but those are the numbers we’re looking at.

Dunno if I wanna pay 305 points for something that likely has AP -2 on all its attacks…

Prediction right on the money. If I'm gonna play the Hierodule I spent MONTHS painting, I'm gonna be using it at AP-3 with the same sweep and strike profiles that it lacks.

At least this makes sure Tyranid players won't waste their hard-earned money on FW models...

Yeah, nothing in the profiles knocks my socks off, certainly doesn't validate the high points cost. Pass.
