Odd combat question

When a leader and it's bodyguard unit are together, they form a single unit, if you kill the bodyguard unit before the character dies, it becomes a separate unit again.

How can you resolve any attacks against that (character) unit in melee? You never charged it, or am I missing something pretty basic XD

The character is part of the unit, so was charged, but just isn't targetable until the bodyguard unit is dead or you have precision attacks?

I think it's up to the controlling player on where to allocate wounds. Hypothetically, I could put damage onto a character while the bodyguard is still attached but it's unlikely you'd want to do so.

No, you (outside of very specific things) can never allocate attacks to the Char while the bodyguard lives:

Anyway, as to the original question, there's two things here. The first is as previously said: it's still the same unit, just less the actual bodyguard. This isn't absolutely solid because of the mess that is attached rules so far, but seems like how things work bar any additional information.

The second is it doesn't hugely matter because charging units have no restrictions on what they can attack anyway, go nuts.
