Novice Objective Question.

Hi all.

It’s been a while since I last played a game and am confused about what can claim objective’s and what they are worth, which I mean is a Monster model as effective as a single Infantry model, in which as far as I can tell is they are worth the same.

So, is it per model or do larger models like Monsters count as more than one model.

Please help as it’s doing my head in trying to find out.

Each model, no matter the size, is worth 1 model for holding an objective.

However, there are certain special rules that some armies have access to that make their models worth more than 1. Tyranids for example can take a Lurk Biomorphology called 'Territorial Instincts' that makes all our Monsters count as 'Objective Secured' and any monster with 10+ Wounds counts as 5 models for objectives.

Additionally, there's also objective secured. Objective secured (obsec for short) gives priority to certain units for holding objectives (most of the time this is just troops). If there are two obsec units within range of the objective, then count the number of models for each side within range of the objective to determine who is holding it.

I know it's what you meant to say, but i think it's not 100% clear. So just to be sure there is no ambiguity for the one who asked the question: if both players has at least 1 model with objective secured within range of the objective, then you compare the total numbers of models for each side whether they have objective secured or not.

Meaning that, if the opponent has a unit of 5 models, all 5 with objective secured, on an objective. And you bring to the same objective 1 model with objective secured and 5 other models from another unit without objective secured on all 5 of them. Then you count all models on each side because both side has at least 1 model with objective secured. So even with less objective secured models than the opponent, you still grab for yourself the objective because the total number of models you have (6) is greater than the total number of model the opponent has (5).
