Getting venoms and zoans from a combined box

infornography asked for the recipe for getting 1 neurothrope, 3 zoanthropes, and 3 venomthropes our of the venom/zoan kit. I just finished up doing this kitbash for a friend (after I'd done it before) and I took pictures throughout the process.

As a note, I did include directions for making the venoms as aquatic biovores/pyrovores.

That's a really good call as well!

I wanted pyrovores/biovores and wanted to mess around with water bases so the decision made itself:)

Excellent! I've been wondering how one can make more than 3 models from that kit. I'll have to get one (plus potentially a box of Gargoyles to sacrifice) and see how I can use some of this knowledge to make a couple of extra Zoanthropes (I just have one of the old metal ones right now) and three Venomthropes!

If you're good with greenstuff, you could probably make some tails so there would be no need for gargoyles.

Alas, I'm still what some would call a 'noob' in the art of greenstuffing, but I have some greenstuff so I'll see what I can do when I manage to get a box of Zoanthropes/Venomthropes. Tails can't be particularly hard to do, especially the carapace-less tails you see on Venomthropes.

I'm not an expert either but I think ravener style tails would be easy. Use a metal pin for a frame, bend into shape, add greenstuff around it. Maybe sculpt in some details if desired.

Green stuff tails are easy. I’ve got a unit of raveners I built out of warriors by just making green stuff tails.

Best way to learn is to just do it.

Now that I have a bit more free time I can give you a few pointers.

First off, always use water when working with green stuff. It helps it from sticking to everything (because it will). And it’s not that it’s super stick, more like annoyingly tacky. Dipping your tools/hands/green stuff in water will stop that. Plus it will reduce the finger prints left on your green stuff when you’re done.

While green stuff is ridged when it dries, it is very pliable while it cures. And it takes a lot longer than you think for it to fully cure. I find it helpful to build an armature for any long, thin areas you intend to build with green stuff. Same thing goes for anything that will bare weight. All my raveners sit on an inch and a half metal rod that is covered in green stuff to form the tail.
