Guidemind Synaptic Imperative / Pathogenic Slime interaction

Hi folks,

Sorry another interaction question from me.

If you have Tyranid Prime Guidemind Synaptic imperative active and use the Pathogenic Slime stratagem on a unit, what happens on a roll of a 6?

For example, a unit of 6 Tyranid Warriors fire their Deathspitters and out of the 18 shots, 3 roll a '6'...

- Do I score 6 wounds (the sixes explode into three more 6's which auto wound)

Or..


- Do I get 3 automatic wounds and get an additional 3 dice to use in the 'roll to wound' step?


I'm thinking it is the latter as I remember this came up with the rending rule in the past for genestealers before the recent code
(albeit, that was wounding step) as auto-wound didn't proc a '6' result?

Additional hits do not proc other rules which require a certain dice result. 3 Additional hits and 3 Auto-wounds.

The above is correct. It's either in the base rule book FAQ or the rare rules section.

Aeldari and their Hail of Doom subfaction Shuriken 'count as 6' is the only exception I am aware of.

That rule doesn’t change the fact that Exploding hits generated from a 6 do not benefit from other rules that apply to a HIT roll of a 6. I wish that Auto-wound hits were always treated as a 6-to wound across the board though.

No but it is an exception to the 6's counts as. Which is as close as there is.

additional hits generated by an exploding 5/6’s rule still don’t trigger Hail of Doom though, so it is not an exception in the context of the OPs question.
