Obsec question / Territorial Instincts interaction

Hi all,

Apologies - I'm sure this sort of question has been before but wanted to 100% confirm.

I'm pretty interested in using the Territorial Instincts hyper adaptation to give all my monsters obsec from the Lurk biomorphologies tree but wanted to confirm a specific scenario.

Let's take this scenario...

- On an forward objective I've got 5 genestealers who vanguard deployed
- There are 5 assault interrcestors (obsec) on their way that would control the objective as the genesteallers are not troops and no longer have objective secured in the new book.
- Now if I advanced up a Carnifex (who gained objective secured with the trait but doesn't count as additional models due to his wound count) who controls the point?

- Tyranids - the two obsec abilities cancel each other out and despite the space marines having more obsec models on the point, the Tyranids have the higher number of models on the objective

Or...

- The Space Marines control the objective as they have the higher number of obsec models on the point?


RAW - I'm leaning towards the first scenario but wanted to be sure.

You are correct. If both sides have at least one obsec model on the objective, the control is determined by the number of all models. The number of obsec models is irrelevant.

1 Obsec model + 5 non-obsec models > 5 obsec models.

Hmmmmm... Interesting. I really though you had to go to the highest number of obsec model first... But I checked the rules and indeed, it's as Kitane said it. If there is even just 1 enemy model with obsec within range of the objective, and you bring any number of model with obsec, the control of the objective is to the player who have the highest number of model count period.

Seem's like i've been doing it wrong the whole time hahaha, good to know.
