Leviathan + Paroxysm? (No supplement q)

Am I right that this would push most units to wounding even our T5 Warriors on 5+?

Synaptic Control: Synapse wounded on 4+

Paroxysm: -1 to Wound

I reeaaally think Paroxysm is a sleeper in this codex. Does pairing it with Maleceptors -1S do anything?

Not sure about transnids and - 1 wound, but for malaceptor I suppose you should determine the needed roll to wound then - 1 to that result. Eg s4 against t3 would usually wound in 3s but now is s3 vs t3 so would wound on 4s. Then - 1 so would only wound on 5s.

Edit: ah yes. Forgot malaceptor is ranged shooting only.

No. They could still wound on 3's for the modified rolls, transhuman-like effects only affect unmodified results. If they wound on 3's, an unmodified 4 will be modified by Paroxysm to a 3 and still result in a successful wound.

Paroxysm affects only melee wound rolls, so the Malceptor doesn't factor in.

Edit: Paroxysm seems best paired with Horms or GS; turning off overwatch helps the offensive output and reducing melee wound rolls lets them actually tarpit pretty well.

These two effects exist separately.

You do the wound roll: paroxysm modifies the results by -1. So a wound roll of 3, is now a 2, a 5 is now a 4 etc etc.

Leviathan is directly on the roll: if you are a 1, 2, or 3, you automatically fail.

So what you do in order is to roll the wound roll, check against Leviathan and remove 1s 2s and 3s, then apply the modifier of -1 to see what still meets the successful wound roll.
