Downsizing due to the new codex?

Is anyone downsizing due to the new codex?

I'm debating about offloading some of my genestealers and hive tyrants as I can't see myself taking all of them anymore. (For reference, I have about 100 genestealers, 2 flyrants and 2 walkrants). I'm trying to pick people's brains to see if you think this is smart or if other editions will allow us to take genestealers/tyrants in larger numbers.

Unless you are hurting for space, I wouldn't. Editions change, rules change, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater etc.

I’m not.

I’ve had around a hundred stealers since 3rd edition. Brood sizes go up and down as well as how good units are. Remember back in 6/7th edition stealers we’re garbage. 8th edition rolled in and stealers were one of the best units in our codex. Now in 9th edition they are meh.

What I do know is that it is cheaper to hold onto what you have than it is to buy new stuff.

Genestealers have been great half the time I have played the game. They will come back. Possibly this edition. All they really need to be competitive is a relatively minor points adjustment.
I am hoping them, gaunts, and gants get slightly cheaper so they are competitive options again. None of those require big changes, but at their current level they are niche listers for the most part.

What is downsizing? Can you eat it? Is it tasty?

If it wasn't for my memories of things back when the Ripper Horde was in its heyday, I'd doubt this, but I knew folks with massive amounts back then, and they still play, Nids only.

Max Hormagaunts is enticing.

A small squad of stealers can still be useful with their forward deployment rule. Gaunt carpets are another story though...

I offloaded a third flyrant when the role came in for other armies, but that was as much to reduce the amount on my painting table
