So Synaptic Imperatives. What's a 'battle round'? If I go second, I can pop Warp Shielding for instance, at the start of my opponents turn 1, and it lasts until the end of my turn 1?

If I go second, can I wait until my turn to pop an Imperative or must I do it at the start of my opponents turn?

Iirc a battleround refers to the whole turn. So you can use the zoan-shielding at the start of the game even if you go 2nd.

I am not sure about the second question but id say start of the battleround is always before your enemies turn if you go 2nd. You can't wait until your turn.

A battle round is made up of two (or more, I guess, if you are playing a huge game with multiple people) player turns.

Player A Turn 1 + Player B Turn 1 = Battle Round 1.

So yes, you choose the Imperative at the start of the Battle Round. This is why the Z Imperative is so good, it can be activated before your opponent goes no matter what. Unlike Encephalic Diffusion, which you can't benefit from in the first round if you go second.
